I was behind the bushes today watching the townspeople go by. I saw a beggar in the streets asking for coin. A man walked by him. The beggar asked the man if he could have a coin and then it happened. The man raised his hands and cast a spell. There was nothing I could do but watch. The spell he cast was simple. He absorbed the beggar's health. I wish I could have stopped this but I did not have the power to do so. He turned my way and I realized he was a vampire. I ran after that and didn't stop in until I came to this inn. I have rested the night but I grow weary of this and fear that I'll be hunted and killed.

I hear him coming.
