Menaan Interior Claims Open!

Nine new interiors for the Hlaalu-controlled village of Menaan are up for claiming. Claim them while they’re hot!

Menaan, a settlement in the badlands of Roth-Roryn, is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. The surrounding walls keep the Alit and the Kagouti out, but what’s truly dangerous is already inside. No one chooses to live here without a good reason. A noble who sleeps with a dagger under his pillow. An escaped slave who has come to live among the enslavers. A blacksmith whose hammer and anvil look suspiciously bloody. A governor with a criminal past. They are all either mad or hiding something. Or from someone.

As a part of the effort to get the Ascadian Coast (is that name being used? or is it Askkaedh?) and the Middle Thirr regions finished I think it’s time to get some work done on the Hlaalu settlements of Gol Mok and Andothren. These areas have been on the back burner for far too long.

Finishing the fishing village of Gol Mok shouldn’t be difficult. There isn’t much to conceptualize. The village consists of five shacks and a very humble manor – home to a Hlaalu Council Company member. What little lore we had for Gol Mok (if that’s even needed) is that the villagers are descendants of Dunmer who fled across the Thirr River from the burning Old Ebonheart back in the days of Tiber Septim. I would imagine that the Indoril would still consider them to be traitors of the worst kind.

There are a couple of interiors near Gol Mok which are missing (dungeons, an Imperial shipwreck, a hermit fisherman’s shack). Those shouldn’t take too long to create. Northwest of Gol Mok there’s an island with a collapsed Velothi tower that’s connected to a buried Dunmer stronghold. In the old forums it was suggested that the tower interior be used elsewhere and replaced with something else. I’m agreeing with this and suggesting that we put a low-level smugglers’/escaped slaves’ hideout there.

The town of Andothren is a tougher challenge, though far from impossible. The exterior’s design is excellent, it just needs to be finished – I’m volunteering for the job if no one else wants it. Also, apparently three interiors are still missing. The town is about the same size as Balmora, so there’ll be a lot of NPCing to be done. Thankfully, a lot of the planning has been already done in the old forums. Here’s a short thread about the major Hlaalu characters in the Andothren side of Thirr, here’s some dialogue and NPC brainstorming, and here’s a third discussion where everything is brainstormed. The town has a strong Tong presence, but also the three Imperial Guilds have halls there.

I would really love if we had both the Thirr River visual update as well as the Andothren—Gol Mok area with NPCs and working interiors by the end of the year.

If we could put up some interiors for claim, that would be really nice.

Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

I not very like some elements of Andothren exterior. This is amazing how you use some elemets but sometimes elements does not coincide with each other. It would be nice to make a few new models. I hope I explained well. Unfortunately, there is no time to take a screenshot to show what I mean.

Also, the settlement of Menaan needs interiors. As do the Hlaalu farm buildings near the settlement.

I’ll put up some claims when I’ve got the time.
