Hey, I'm new to the Project! I would love to lend a hand in writing lore and quests, specifically for the Morag Tong as well as, the yet to be discussed in the project, the Dark Brotherhood. I'd like to consider myself an "expert" in the two organizations. Although I know your lore is different, I think these two won't change much in their goals and ideals. I am also aware that the Dark Brotherhood isn't present in Morrowind, during the game, or lore, (besides the Dark Brotherhood spy, pretending to be a student ;]), which is a nice segue into the idea I have about the DB.

I don't know the exact date of the projects current lore, but around this time they are working on expansion as well as making a name for themselves, which they did by killing the Colovian Emperor-Potentate Savirien-Chorak and every one of his heirs who were murdered sometime in Sun's Dawn in they year 430. Now I very well suspect they were trying to get a strong foothold in Morrowind as that's the only space they were having trouble developing. I imagine, the player, after going through a hard process of finding the DB in Morrowind, could help them do just this, get rid of leaders, and even infiltrate the Morag Tong, leaking information to their brothers in black. I recommend we implement them, if we do, on Morrowind's borders to Skyrim and Cyrodiil, and possibly Black Marsh. I plan on helping all the other projects over in Project Tamriel, but I'm not sure how active they all are, judging from their forum activity, (nothing as of this year).

I would also love to flush out the Morag Tong some more. Giving them more structure, interactions with higher political powers, connections to the Houses, and their relationship with the Dark Brotherhood, as well as just over all making sence of their plot holes.

Now I know next to nothing about coding or modding, so it'd help a lot if someone was willing to help me inpliment this stuff. I hope some modder out there cares for these orginisations like I do and can help get them in better shape! If anyone doesnt agree with having the DB in Morrowind or doesnt want the Morag Tong to change in any way, let me know so we caan comprimise or scrap the idea. Thanks

P.S. I dont know any tags or if project orginization is the right place to put this, sorry!

Hello there! Welcome to the project!

So, cutting right to the chase: for the most part there's three major components to characterizing an organization ingame, and that's the quests involved, their dialogue, and the atmosphere of their bases ingame.

For your propposal, I'd focus in on what the quest structure would look like, and where the hideouts and leaders of the Morag Tong and Dark Brotherhood are. These are things you can do without any experience in the CS, as it just involves writing your proposal on the forums here and discussing it, similar to these two threads:
http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?t=24085
http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/house-dres-faction-quests

From there, we start making your proposals into claims, where people who do the CS work take these claims and develop them into the game. If you want to participate in that piece of implementation, you would want to make a quest and/or interior showcase here first, to show you know what you're doing:

Hi and welcome!

Tamriel Rebuilt has never really taken a strong look at the Dark Brotherhood, but they are very probably not going to be a player-joinable faction.

The dominant assassin guild in Morrowind is the Morag Tong and the Dark Brotherhood was driven out - during the Morag Tong campaign in vanilla, they are trying to exploit a severe weakness in security to gain a foothold on Vvardenfell itself. And of course Helseth during Tribunal brought his Dark Brotherhood contacts with him, who then went on to languish in the extended sewer system of Almalexia.

There has been some talk recently to take the Dark Brotherhood into account when creating the one final Almalexia, and have the local Morag Tong questline revolve nearly entirely about the conflict with these western assassins.

However, the Dark Brotherhood took a severe amount of flanderization with Oblivion and afterwards. I checked with a SHotN lead dev, and they are going to stick with the Morrowind-style Dark Brotherhood instead of the Oblivion-style one.

That bascially means:

  1. The Dark Brotherhood's mainstream is less of a nihilistic death cult and more of a business savy assassin's guild.
  2. Even in the instances where it is a death cult, the Cyrodiilic/Nibenese Dark Brotherhood is one of many local ones (1008 cults in the Niben area after all), remarkable mostly due to their reach and worldliness.
  3. The Night Mother is a title of a local faction leader and not a singular dessicated corpse of the bride of Sithis. You kill a Night Mother during the Morag Tong questline in vanilla, and she has regular name (Severa Magia)

Fair enough, I think sticking with this kind of Dark Brotherhood is good, and recommended. In terms of quests and how they will interact with the world, my plans are for it to be very minimal, maybe grow throughout the quest-line, but much closer to a small cell than a sanctuary. For recruitment, you can either seek them out, (because their normal recruitment process won't really work in Morrowind because they dont have the resources to see when you kill random civilians), or they will try and find you within a certain area if you are already part of the Morag Tong. Now possibly, the questline will overlap with SHotN and ProvCyr (no idea if this works modding wise, just an idea) and the parts of their full questline that take place in Morrowind, will be minimal, most just spy work on the Morag Tong, and trying to spread their influence in western Morrowind.

Just some ideas, but hopefully we can find a good way of implementing them as a faction players want to join, or hunt out of Morrowind!

Sure, that sounds like a worthwhile goal and scope. I'm looking forward to your ideas.
