Very recently Tamriel Rebuilt has decided to drastically change the "status quo" for Map 2. Along with a name change, it's also being tailored to a more logical, lore-friendly, and manageable frame. Read more at our Blog!

I like the new map name, sounds intriguing. Because "Antediluvian Secrets" means "secrets before the flood" (at least in my mother language). So here's my question: what's that flood?

well, there was a flood when the akaviri invaded morrowind and vivec put the whole place underwater. there was also a flood, afiar, when red mountain erupted (sending Kemel-Ze tumbling down). i think its refering to the later. alternatively "antediluvian" can mean simply ancient.

Aren't those the same event, N? Red Mountain erupted but the alternative story was that Vivec flooded the province to kill the Akaviri invaders.

hm, i really dont know. i think it was two separate ones. the eruption of red mountain made the inner sea, so was a flood too.

Vivec's flooding also made the Inner Sea, according to itself, I think.

They're all just myths, the Red Mountain one is kinda BS, the Vivec one is cool. However, antediluvian just means very old, the literal meaning aside.

Yeah, "very ancient"; I forgot that it could have the same meaning in italian as well. Smile
Is Lutemoth going to make an official Map 2 cover like he did for Map 1?

Lute's currently elsewhere, AFAIK, but he did do a (Necrom themed) 'cover' for Map 2, back before the changes.

Can the letters look even more ancient and slightly bigger? And should we include "Telvannis" in it?

It's a good start; but try to work more on the colours (they seems a bit too bright to me) and, as theviking said, on the fonts as well. Basically what I expect looking at a Map 2 cover is the same sensation I had from the Map 1 cover, just title and colour scheme have to be different... If you know what I mean.

Has anybody made a note about this on Bethesda's Elder Scrolls forum? I bet people would be thrilled to hear the release is coming REAL soon!

For Lady N, brilliant! My only suggestion is the text is too small-ish, unclear-ish. Is it possible to make the text look as bold and clear as the Telvannis text?

Nah, Lady N's has got it perfectly. Problem is, 'Ad S' is such a clunkily long name that it's impossible for it to look quite like 'Telvannis'.

The only noticable difference between N's and Lute's is that N's has less 'shadow effect' going on. But I think it's great.

That's exactly what I was talking about, mine are just suggestions. The WIP is good, but both fonts and colours need some more effects and to be less bright IMHO, like you can see managed in Lute's cover. Probably the fonts' size can be improved with no problems (just a bit), see that "Antediluvian Secrets" will fit the cover lenght very good. Word of artist. Wink

Looks awesome Lady N, IMHO you don't need to change anything except the font of 'Ad S', wich as others say should look more like the Telvannis one. I really like the rocky texture in the background, but maybe we need to save this one for another map, like one that is heavily indoril or has a lot of mountains.

A suggestion would you save this one for another map, use a color scheme for 'Ad S' that has Dwemeri colors in it, as I believe Kemel-Ze is included in this release? And ancient is the theme of this release.

I had some minutes to kill so I did this. Just worked on top of Lady N's original image (sorry if I bludgeoned your work without permission Razz).

Not exactly what I wanted, but the closest thing I could do. I added some contrast, changed the colour slightly, and added text effects.

Letters are improved alot, although the Telvannis one and beth's original ones use flat letters, not 3D (if you know what I mean).

About the colors, this is a picture which mostly has the color I identify with dwemer:

And ofcourse the dwemer armor and centurions:

What about a mix of those two colors? Use the first color in the middle as background and use the yellow one for the outer rims?

Yeah that's what I meant by "not what I exactly wanted"

I'd need the actual font Lute used, if such a font existed (or if he just cut the letters from the Morrowind boxart.

As for the colours, it must be my monitor lol.

dudes, im pretty sure yalls are working on an obsolete version. i remember posting up a newer one somewhere a while ago.

the textures are taken strait from the bsa, with minor lightness adjustment iirc.

ill check which version is the latest tomorrow, and ill post it here.

I don't understand how it deserves so much attention as to be changed. Its an image that doesn't even appear as part of the mod, its inconsequential, just a fun little thing.

I disagree. The opening screens of Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon are most important for the image people have of those games. Our ones will be used as main PR image, so it sets the mood for the entire mod for everyone that only sees the release and download page. I think it needs to give the right feeling straight away.

They are also a big link in style to Bethesda, something which shows our dedication to create it true to Lore and vision of beth. At the same time they are unique and show the other identity of TR and that is the project is unique.

blagh blagh blagh.

yay a PR image that people can click a fucking link to. it doesn't appear when you load the game, its inconsequential.

It looks Dwemer. It has looked Dwemer since Lady N posted the first one almost four months ago. No more discussion is needed.
