First, let me say how thankful I am that you're all so dedicated to Morrowind. Though I discovered it pretty late (2010), I still count it among my favorite games.
Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble installing TR. I've read the ReadMe file, and so far as I can tell, I've done everything properly.
I extracted the files and placed them in the Data Files folder. I got the TR_Data registered on BSAREG (and checked Morrowind.ini to make sure it went through). After this, I'm still unable to reach the mainland (I've tried swimming, using Effe-Tai in Mournhold, and casting Almsivi Intervention in Sadrith Mora), nor does it mention loading TR_Data.esm when I start up the game.
Also, and maybe this is a silly question, but does a character have to be created with TR installed to reach the mainland? I rolled the character I'm using while TR was downloading.
Can anyone here help? Thank you.

You'll need to actually enable the plugin for it to work. If you're using a disc version of Morrowind, just select "Data Files" in your launcher and check which plugins you want to load - for TR you should check TR_Data and TR_Mainland.

If you're using the steam version, try to find the Morrowind launcher. I've tried using the steam version before and failed miserably but I'm sure someone else will be able to help you!

Ah, that seemed to do the trick! Thank you very much.
So far I've checked out Ranyon-Ruhn and environs, and I'm completely floored. It's like experiencing for the first time Morrowind all over again.
However, I am running into another error. Occasionally the menus will pop up, along with the warning that the Daedric Bat Mov cannot be found. However, this file is in the Morrowind folder. I'd ignore it, but it started to grow quite frequent.

That's strange. Are you using the 1.1 release? Try downloading that. If that doesn't help, click the "Objects of Tamriel" link at the top of these forums, download the latest TR_Data and try using that.
edit: don't listen to me, see arvis' post below!

I wouldn't do that. These TR_Data are older than the one in the Sacred East release, and should cause errors on loading.

No arvisrend, these TR_Data in our "Objects of Tamriel" tab are newer than the ones in the 1.1 SE release. These contains the new instruments/creature sounds I created... In the TR_Data of 1.1 SE are still the ones made in 2005.

Are you talking about the BSA? The ESM is definitely newer in the 1.1 release than in the OOT.

I would prefer if people didn't recommend to the public that they download our internal-use files.

Specifically it's the /r/daedric bat move.wave that can't be found. I ran into a similar issue, though the message mentioned the program being unable to find the file for river strider sound. This happened after I rode the silt strider to Tel Oud.
It seems like it's some kind of a sound file issue in general. Do the sound files need to be located in the Data Files folder? Or specifically the Sound folder? I actually have them in both at the moment, I think due to earlier attempts in installing TR.
Unfortunately, it's getting frequent enough in the affected locales that I really am unable to play. When I made an earlier attempt to walk to Tel Oud, I got the daedric bat message every few seconds.

Okay, I think I fixed it.
I noticed that the actual message said that Data Files/Sound/TR/r/daedric bat move.wav couldn't be found. I realized that I didn't have any files called TR or r within Sound. So I made a TR file, and then an r file inside that, and placed all of the sound files inside.
I haven't had any problems since then.
