Hello to all. If I become a head of a guild (of Mages, for example), will mainland guild masters give me quests? In vanilla Morrowind becoming a guildmaster stops getting next quests if there's some undone yet. How with mainland? I have TR_Mainland 18.07 without TR_Factions. By the way, what does TR_Factions exactly do?

Hello Achez!

First off, I recommend you download the newest release, TR_Mainland 18.09, as it fixes a number of bugs -- some of them quest-breaking -- that were present in 18.07.

Your question is a very good one. Because TR has been in the making for over a decade there are some discrepancies when it comes to quests. Some faction quests on mainland do become unavailable if you are the master of the guild. For example the Thieves' Guild quests suffer from this. On the other hand Fighters' Guild quests aren't gated off because of your rank. This is an issue that hasn't been given enough thought until now and it's something that we definitely will fix in the next update.

TR_Factions is TR's solution to this problem for the time being. It balances the faction advancement requirements making advancement slower. Basically, it means you need to gain more faction reputation before you can raise in rank, which means you get to do more quests. It also extends the Telvanni Hortator quests to mainland councilors. I highly recommend it.

Hello Achez!

I think it would make sense if at least some factions were separate on Vvardenfell and on the Mainland. Take House Telvanni, for example, the Mainland lords would have seized the opportunity to downvalue the Vvardenfell lords in order to increase their own power and influence within the House. Basically, they would acknowledge your rank, but say that it means little until you've proven yourself in the Telvanni heartlands.

The Thieves Guild might take a similar attitude and see any thieves from Vvardenfell as little more than village market pickpockets, while for contrast the Fighters Guild, the Imperial Legion and the Mages Guild would freely accept that anyone who has managed to fight and prosper on Vvardenfell has earned their place.

So in my opinion it would really make most sense to have some factions being separate, and some factions being merged. As long as you can do all quests for all factions (yes, I'm a completionist and questaholic). laugh
