Hi my name is Scott Lite (see my FB) and I study anthropology and ethnobotany in the Peruvian Amazon and Andes (see my website for more info - www.ethnoco.com).

I am a HUGE fan of Morrowind and TR. I have played Morrowind since it came out in 2002. I have played every single Elder Scrolls games including Redguard and Battlespire. My favorites are Daggerfall, Battlespire and Morrowind, with Morrowind being my #1 favorite game of all time. I have extensively researched the lore.

I am interested in writing quest content for Ashlander groups in TR from an anthropological perspective. I intend to draw inspiration from Daggerfall, Redguard, Battlespire, Morrowind, Arena and my experience with native groups in the real world. I would base some of the content on the following real world native groups- Machiguenga, Mongols, Shipibo, Anasazi, Huichol, Tarahumara, Peruvian Meistizo culture, Quechuas and more!

Is this something y'all would be interested in?

I am thinking of making a quest known as the "Ashlander Vision Quest" where you become intiated into the Ashlander clan via special rites that the youth go through to become an adult. This will parrael real world cultural practices.

I would be willing to write a lot of Ashlander content. I think the vanilla game is really lacking in Ashlander content and hope to see TR with MUCH more content for Ashlanders!

My only issue is.... I don't know much about the Ashlanders on the mainland. I have the latest TR mod running but I don't see much Ashlander content... am I just yet to find it?

Can you direct me to some sources to learn as much as I can about the Ashlanders on the mainland?

PS- is this the correct place for this post? If not, please move it.

I am thinking about the following-

Dunmer Cave Paintings, making new paintings when you reach a certain level, figuring out an ancient mystery from the old paintings
Vision Quest (ingesting a psychoactive plant traditionally used by the Ashlanders to intiate the youth into adulthood)
Hunting with the Ashlander
Herbalism and plant medicine with the Ashlanders
Fishing with the Ashlanders using a root that creates a fish poison
Tattoos traditionally used by Ashlanders, you can get one once you rise enough in rank
Making the Ashlanders a real faction with extensive quests
Restoring the Ashlanders honor
Getting the Ashlanders better trade deals, stop them from being expoilted
Creating your own Ashlander camp/farm/tribe
Bringing together lost Ashlanders into a new clan/restoring an old broken clan
Uncontacte/isolated Ashlanders who do not know the modern world (even more so than other clans)
Miners destroying the river/water of the Ashlanders, making them sick, stop them (this is happening in the real world today)
Ashlander clan attacked by Imperials who believe they are the "savages" who attacked them
Racism/classism against the Ashlanders (such as when you must visit the city with a sick ashlander girl who the wise woman cannot cure)
Organize a raiding party on a nearby camp of outlanders who have invaded and are stealing their guar
Rescuing an Ashlander girl who was taken by the Telvanni as a concubine.
Ashlander party/festival/feast, help organize it
Rituals- payments to mother earth, payments to ancestors, praying to the sun/moon, etc.
Pack Guar Fast Travel- an ashlander with a pack guar and a cart will transport you between all the mainland Ashlander camps

These are just some ideas. tell me what you think.

While I am unable really to comment on the rest I can give a rough overview of the current state of Ahslanders with TR in that no, there isnt really any content for them right now.

However the plan is actually to reverse that quite a bit during the release following the one we are working on now where we will have two full ashlander tribes, the Ishanuran and the Obnait, as well as some renegades ashlanders and a ashlander vampire clan. Also the ideas been thrown around to have some living in a Stronghold as some texts suggest was how they were origonally used.

I would reccomend asking around our discord (links in the footer) as its where most of the planning/discussion takes place.

First of all, welcome to Tamriel Rebuilt, Farfromhere001!

There's already some planning for our Ashlander tribes, which you can find on the links below. Feel free to take a look at them and respond with corrections / further ideas.

As Vern has said, the currently released landmass is indeed lacking in Ashlander content. Fortunately, this is going to change in late 2019, when we're finally going to get to preparing the Armun Ashlands for release. Your help would be greatly appreciated in making the tribes there more interesting!

How realistic would it be to have an actual nomadic Ashlander group? Who move their camp around between like 5-8 different locations depending on the time of year/season? Too difficult? Easy? I would like to have them doing realistic hunting and gathering. Example - one time of the year they hang out on the coast and fish, another time of the year they go to the grasslands to graze their Guar.

TR isn't going to do that since vanilla didn't, but Valenwood will have a city that moves around in a circle throughout the year. The way that city will work is by having an interior cell containing the city, with the entrances disappearing and reappearing in new locations. This is really the only way it can work within the engine's limitations, and that style won't fit the ashlander camps as they currently are. In addition, with TES III's Tamriel being far smaller than a realistic scale, there isn't much room for a bunch of ashlander camps to be moving around.

That makes sense, thank you.
I will try to write some content soon.

In case you're still interested in writing content for Ashlanders, NPCing and dialogue writing has just begun for the camps, and we're moving into quest development soon. You can join our Discord to be more involved in the process.
