I have no idea where to post it and anyway I’m pretty sure you don’t really want your threads to be “raided by” outsiders, so I’m posting in Off-Topic.

Don’t think it needs reminder, but as we all know Vvardenfell is under quarantine due to blight disease. In my opinion Tamriel Rebuilt lacks this feeling. I have idea for a really small change that has many advantages.

Build the massive bridge between Ebonheart and Fort Ancylis (ideally it would be Old Ebonheart, but there’s just no place for it, because of Old Ebonheart location). Such bridge is definitely possible as here or here. On that bridge there would some serious Legion forces that would prevent crossing it of course. At least before you could get special permission for it. Bridge would have to be big enough for ships to sail under it.

What this achieves?

  • quarantine feel as there is direct way to move from mainland to Vvardenfell, but it’s heavily guarded and crossing is forbidden, you could even think about small mod such lovers that both are members of Imperial Legion but right now, despite that they can see each other, they can’t talk to each other as between them is that small forbidden area or maybe find officers from both sides that allow to cross the bridge at night for money, you could pay them and cross the bridge, you could report them to higher rank officers or even find yourself in argument between them, that one of them is getting more money.
  • answers the question why such bridge wasn’t built before, as Inner Sea isn’t exactly a big sea; whilst Firewatch to Vos is a bit long, Ayemar has nowhere to go, but Ebonheart definitely seems close enough for such bridge to exist.
  • it’s cool and TR is cool, so what’s not to like?

There is no quarantine in the TR.. Instead the lore we have created is that there was a failed quarantine which took place before the game starts.  Go to the asset browser and read my book “The Eastern Quarantine" if you want to know more.

We decided that since the Quarantine doesn’t make sense (there’s a few examples of NPCs moving to and from the mainland, ignoring it, plus teleportation and such) that instead of the quarantine being an ongoing thing, that it would have been a failed quarantine that was scrapped. Therefore, people still mention it, but it’s not really in place or enforced.

Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

OK, I see and I support this decision (I’ve read 2 years old thread on bethsoft about it yesterday), but I still think such bridge would be nice. Just forgot the part about quarantine and think about said bridge.

PS. Does altering Vvardenfell means we can expect Indoril and Dres compounds in Vivec?

Plopping down new cantons in Vivec and a giant bridge which will hinder ship travel is precisely the thing we don’t want to do.

Nobody’s stopping anybody else from doing this in a different mod – I mean, TR is there to be modded for. We’ll stick with no exterior edits, NPCs and quests only, however.

Dres and Indoril no need cantons in vivec because they has no territories on Vvardenfell
