Hi, I have installed Tamriel Rebuilt and started a new game and am excited to give it a try. I travelled over there on a new save, just to make sure everything was working, textures, grasses etc. Everything was fine at first, until randomly walking down a road (cannot remember which region, sorry - but there was characters and buildings so I don't think it was one of the preview areas) I got these errors:

TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\tr\l\TR_l_de_lantern_15.nif" tex not found "textures\tr\tr_m_lantern_violet_01.dds"!
Texture Load Error!: textures\tr\tr_m_lantern_violet_01.dds
Texture Load Error!: textures\tr\tr_m_lantern_violet_01.dds

After hitting yes to continue running the executable I crashed instantly. I have registered both TR bsas in my .ini file, like this, which I think is correct:
Morrowind.bsa
Tribunal.bsa
Bloodmoon.bsa
PT_Data.bsa
TR_Data.bsa

So I am assuming one of my mods is not playing nicely with TR. Is there a way to figure out which one? just based off the model and texture name I cannot think of which mod it could be. Does anyone know, or know how I can diagnose this? I am running traditional Morrowind, through Mod Organizer 2, with MGEXE, and latest MWSE nightly. I will attach my MO2 load order below, I'm not an expert modder, especially with Morrowind where mlox is not perfect at sorting, so I do not know if my model and texture mods are relevant so if you need that info too I will try and provide it.

Edit: I just noticed my MO2 loadorder.txt includes my grass plugins, even though I do not have them activated in MO. I only activate them when generating distant lands.

Thanks for reading, abnd thanks to all the people who have worked very hard on this for many years.

I checked and this lantern model should require the textures\tr\tr_misc_lantern_paper_15.dds texture, not textures\tr\tr_m_lantern_violet_01.dds.

It is possible that either:

  1. this file has been overriden by a loose mesh (please check that there is no meshes\tr directory, you generally should not need it)
  2. you are using an outdated BSA (somehow); I'd check if your Tamriel_Data is really the current one.

I definitely have the newest version, only installed them yesterday, and I just got the newest version of Tamriel Rebuilt, TR Data, the TR hotfix, Cyrodiil and Skyrim. I'm a little confused what you by there should be no meshes\tr directory, do you mean there literally shouldn't be one in my game directory at all? I am using MO2 so there isn't really anything in my game directory until I run the game but if I run a search on my MO2 mods folder there are many, many mods that have a \meshes\tr folder. For example, \Better Robes - Updated Tamriel Rebuilt Patch\Meshes\tr. Searching for misc_lantern_paper_15 or the erroneous m_lantern_violet shows nothing though, if it was a mod adding that it would show up in my MO2 mods folder would it not? Sorry if I am missing something very obvious here, haha. When it comes to that particular mesh though, the mod "Dunmer Lanterns Replacer" has that mesh, tried to open it in NifSkope and got the error:

encountered unknown block (NiCollisionSwitch)

Failed to load D:/Modding/Morrowind/mods/Dunmer Lanterns Replacer/Meshes/tr/l/tr_l_de_lantern_15.nif

Again, I'm no expert using NifSkope, so there may be a way to resolve the error I don't know about, but yeah. It is the only mod in my mods folder that has that mesh. So I have removed that mod. I assume it was the culprit?

Ah, right, forgot that other mods could have added a meshes\tr folder. If you are using TR without anything else, no, you should not have meshes\tr.

It seems like you found the culprit in Dunmer Lantern Replacer. I'm not sure how to remove only that mesh if you load things up via MO2, though, but if you just delete it from the meshes\tr folder, it should have sorted itself out.
