I got a whole bunch of 'em. Don't really know which ones my biggest favorite, though: Clem Snide, Gorillaz, Matchbox 20, Sugar Ray and Smashmouth.

Don't have favorites, since this change depending on my mood, but a few somewhat obscure bands I like are:
 • His Name Is Alive -- American group with lots of references to US pop culture that fly high over my head (I've recognized only a few of said references), but I like the music a lot, especially in their earlier albums (Livonia, the Dirt Eaters, Fort Lake...).
 • Letzte Instanz -- German goth band, rather eclectical in their music styles (from metal to pop to medievalish folk-rock to techno to even, shudders, rap).
 • Noir Désir -- French rock group, quite famous here but practically unknown abroad, got a surge of infamy as the lead singer is now in jail for having beaten his girlfriend to death... Still like the music, though.
 • Some really obscure and weird groups published by Prikosnovénie, like for example GOR (no relations at all with the crappy books of the same name, fortunately).
More famous groups or singers I listen too occasionally: Rammstein, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nightwish, old (pre 90's) U2, etc.

Heavy Metal - System of a Down, Iced Earth, Mettalica, Blind Guardian.

Just Rock - Lincoln Park, P.O.D.

Punk Rock - F.I.F.

Country - Toby Kieth, Tim McGraw.

Classical Type - Lorenna McKinnet.

I haven't come to appreciate Guar's music, but I find their antics on stage histerical.
Stendarr is the God of Mercy and Justice. Therefore, he must also be the bearer of Duck Tape, for only Mercy and Justice can use Duck Tape for the Good of man.

The Gorillaz are sort of "real", all the band members are alter-egos of Damon Albarn from Blur, with some guests. I think Damon does most of the recording himself.

Killswitch Engage, Trivium, System of a Down, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. If it's metal, I'll listen to it.

Plus, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Funeral for a friend, Bloc Party, Alkaline Trio and others.

That's what I like with these threads. Everybody list things they assume the others don't know of, but don't read the large clutters of bulky, uninteresting answers from others who cited the same. :)

Nightwish have never been heavy, their guitar solos sound like theme tunes from 80's Soap Operas :p.

Are we speaking about the same band? Nightwish is heavy. At least near it.

*backhand smack*
It's "GWAR", not guar. Show some respect for the Scumdogs of the Universe.
I've seen them live seven times. Absolute mayhem. It's fun when you are on the Metro, coming back from one of their shows, drenched from head to toe in blood, piss and shit.
The Gorillaz are a combination of Damon Albarn, Blur frontman, and Del the Funky Homosapien. Beyond that, however, they are simply cartoon characters.
My favorite bands are Rush, B.B. King and The Clash.

Very sure, they are not heavy, at least not in comparison to bands like Trivium, Opeth, etc.

P.S. Dexter: Thumbs-up for the clash, I've spent many a drunken night at the local xscenex club dancing to them :)

Go and take a nap everybody, and think over what "heavy" means for you. Nightwish is Symphonic Power Metal, not heavy metal.

wikipedia wrote:Tuomas Holopainen once described their music as "melodic heavy metal with a female voice".

Cat Stevens is not a band, but a person. And anyway, his musical career has rolled over and died in 1977, when he became Yusuf Islam.

This is a summary of my favorite type of rap vs. rock argument:
"All rap sounds the same, and it all sucks!"
"Yeah, I like [insert death metal band here]"
"They aren't death metal, they're black metal!"
"I like industrial and goth metal."
"I used to like heavy metal, but then I got more involved in grindcore and hero metal"
The irony hurts so had.
Some of the best poetry I've ever read comes from rap songs.
