Sound & Music - Weekly Jam Group

Post by Graff »

Basically, I'm throwing this out as a proposal, to see how many people would be interested. A Weekly Jam Session within the Sound and Music forum.

Next week, I'll be posting a 3-4 minute melody on acoustic guitar, interested parties can submit their own tracks to be included in the final mixdown.

I'm not shure what you mean. Do you mean that we would segue from your chunk to the next? Or would they be layered on top of eachother? Or would one person select themes from yours and compose variations?

Didn't you just say in a similar thread that these discussions should be in the SM forum :)

Well, aren't I a hypocrite? :P

Layered over the top of each other, like a global orchestra.

So, for instance, I may submit a part played by an acoustic guitar, and Nichevo may then submit a flute part, etc...

Sort of like the weekly sketch group, except with music. And I think Graff means that he'll lay down the tune in guitar, and everyone else creates their own version using various instruments, following his tune. Am I right?

That should be interesting, to say the least. I dont think I'll be able to contribute because I have no acoustic intrument and sycing electronic music with it will be hard.

Does Nichevo play the flute, or did you make that up?

Nichevo does indeed play the flute.

You're welcome to at least give it a shot, my timing is pretty good with most instruments, so it might be easy to sync.

Is there going to be a "theme", like "folk music of the desert" or something? Or just a free for all?

I'll come up with an appropriately themed melody (one I'm working on at the moment is a sort of desert raiders one), and assuming we get enough submissions, I'll prune tracks to come up with a version that works.

Try making a main page post... a call out to anyone interested. Along with a description of how it'll work, and a sample of your first peice.

I play trumpet, piano, guitar and could prolly rattle of some money pan music with my old recorder, but alas I have no sound equipment to get it to my computer.
