I'm just throwing out another idea. How about a guild that relies on long-range combat. The player could attack with a group of multiple NPCs. Not so many to kill the speed, but enough to give the player the thrill of showering their enemy with arrows. Assaults could be made on things like Daedric shrines or maybe unwanted camps of NPCs. Maybe camps of Necromancers or something. Just throwing out some ideas. I'm not hard-core for this one, but it's just an idea.

IMHO, archers are pretty well covered by the Fighters Guild, but a quest where you are sent off with some fellow archers would be nice.

Maybe a NPC who gives you this quest (and the sidemen) when you're marksman skill has reached a certain level.

Yes, this idéa is perhaps a bit too farfetched to be a guild of it's own. ;)

But as Quentin sais, it would be exellent as a quest that depends on the level of the characters marksmanskill.

Yeah... but apart from it being an interesting quest from an NPC that you get with a high marksmanskill, I also like the bit about attacking in a group. That is one thing I've felt lacks from TES3. There are some quests where you have somebody with you, but then you are usually escorting or protecting them, or, like in the Bloodmoon main quest, you aren't actually with them in the battle, just working with them... Maybe there are some quests I haven't yet done that are like that, with many people fighting, but still, more of those would add to the realism, especially with archers...

Maybe you can make a stealthy guild of Robin Hood-like archers, you know, steal from the rich and give to the poor.

Lol, I just want to see one good shower of arrows. That's all I ask :P. Morrowind lacks shower of arrowness and although we can't blacken the sky with them, it would be fun to see tons of them just flying around, hehehehheh.

Showers of arrows is hard to make because of limits to the game engine. To make a shower worth it's name, you'll need quite a bunch of NPC's. And quite a bunch of NPC's will make the game lag ;)

Showers of arrows would be cool to see, but as others said, the eingine wouldn't handle it. I once made a battle of 300 vs. 300, and the lag was terrible. Maybe, with scripting, we could make something where it starts with 20 or 25 guys and when one gets killed another one appears, so there is 25 at a time but lots more guys to "respawn."

yeah, maybe, but 25 lags just about as much as 300...so maybe 10? besides, I don't think a guild would either A) Attack a group larger than that(they are just a guild, 20 people is like the entire guild throughout Vvardenfell), or B)have enough people to take on any group larger than 10...because if your travelling in numbers larger than ten, then your either extremely strong(i.e. trained and meriless warriors), or your moderately strong because of sheer numbers (i.e. monks trained in Unarmored and Hand-to-Hand, with a dagger for back up.)

Sounds like an interesting type of guild, but it's too specific to one skill. None of the other guilds are specific to a single skill. You either have to make it a more general guild, like a Ranger's Guild(although either the Morag Tong or Camonna Tong means that), or you could make it an offshoot of another guild, like the Fighter's guild or the Theive's guild. A better idea perhaps would be to have an assationation type mission, instead of a battle, and where you have a little time to find a good spot to lie in wait, assuming you know where your prey is heading. Then you have to fire off a few quick shots to end them, and dissapear into the numerous unihabited hills. You may even have to frame somebody else by using some kind of arrow that is rare or specific to one group. Of course, you couldn't leave the body there, you would have to write a script to remove it fairly soon.

How about breaking up the archer quests over a series of related guilds? Fighters guild, obviously, but the Imperial Legion should have archers as well. Morag Tong should have some specific marksman quests for shuriken experts. I think it'd be best if specialized quests for one skill be contained in a guild that is already in existence. And that means you could also have specialized quests (half dozen, tops) for other skills as well. Would definitely add a bit more depth to the guilds that already exist.

just in caseu are curious ... when i made ninjutsu training they teached me that

shuriken are the streight blades ... little like little darts

while the shaken are the so called stars the name should mean round blade even if in original shape they where more squared

i resent the showers of arrows directed at the shrines of myself and the other lords and lady azura. flaming arrows will rain soar through the sky and shower down on ur pitiful towns when lord dagoth awakens from his slumber and u will all go meet him as flesh, or dust.

But i am an archer myself and do think it would be a good kind of cult to have a band of dadedric worshippers that would follow their lords wishes.

Katse there are Imperial Archers at most of the Imperial legion forts so that idea is well worth trying out. Its just I don't see much work for archers specifically.

As said by someone else, you could make a special section of the Morag Tong that assasinates at a distance, but you could spice it up a bit. If anyone has gone on Carnius' side in the Raven Rock quests in Bloodmoon, you know you have to assasinate Falco. He gives you a poison arrow and a scroll that fortify's marksman about 80 pts, sneak about 80 pts, and charmeleon 75%. There could be a small part of the Morag Tong that uses that equiptment.

I was just thinking how larger object are easier to see when thrown, how about a rain of bottles?
Now I have to figure out how to work a bar fight into the quests I have planned.

Thats a pretty interesting idea evilgreebo. Although I am one of those peeps here who doesn't want to get beyond themself with suggestions thats a pretty funny one! :]

I am joining the conversation kind of late, but I don't think it will be a good idea to hae a guild of heroes that steals from the rich and gives to the poor... the rich have gaurds and good weapons... it would be much easier to steal from the poor and keep it for the guild... or maybe not keep it but pay taxes... that is what my accountant does. But seriousely, there could be a minimum of money you have to steal weekly or daily or monthly to stay in the faction.

That already exists. The Bal Molagmer quests, associated with the Thieves' Guild. I assumed we were going to be adding more of those quests to the Thieves' Guild. I was hoping that, since we have the gloves, as we go through the rest of the provinces, we could slowly acquire an entire Bal Molagmer outfit--shoes, pants, shirt, etc.

I like the idea of more Bal Molagmer quests. However, about the entire outfit... The thing is the gloves have something ceremonial about them. These are quoted from the dialogue:

"The Bal Molagmer once carried burning stones from Red Mountain throughout Morrowind, lighting hearth fires and spreading the light of justice."

"There is a legend about "Stone Fire Men" who brought the light of justice to the land. Though the Bal Molagmer were thieves, they stole only from the unjust and gave to those in need. They vanished early in the Third Era, and have not been seen since. I believe it is time for the Bal Molagmer to return. Here--these gloves were used by the Bal Molagmer to carry their burning stones from the Red Mountain. When you are ready to rekindle the fires of the Bal Molagmer, wear the gloves and speak with me again."

They might have ceremonial robes though. I guess we could expand the lore a little. But I don't think they carried burning stones in their pants :P.

Well, it's still possible that there were plain old clothing that gained some significance. And if fire was carried in the gloves, does that mean they were made from asbestos? ;) Just what we need, the Bal Molagmer skulking around in an asbestos suit, then suddenly dying of mesothelioma (lung cancer caused by asbestos inhalation). :P

But some sort of outfit, or armor, or something, could definitely be added to the glove lore. By the time you finish all the quests in all the provinces, you have the whole uniform--and maybe you get some neat artefact besides. :D

I honestly don't think the Bal Molagmar had a outfit - it would be like running around shouting out to the world that you're a pickpocket :P

A pair of gloves is, on the other hand, much more discreet. Perfectly normal people are known to wear black gloves, after all. In the case of the Bal Molagmar, the gloves are symbolic. They show the recipient of their service who they are. Sort of a "legend" thing (think Zorro's mask, or somesuch).
