Morrowind Map

Hi Prom,
You've done a great job on this map!
Glad to see Old Ebonheart is retaining its name.
Also, at 9,-22, there is (or used to be) a town called Dondril (claim 3-21).
BTW, where did the names "Crandel Plateau" and "Zenithar Canal" come from in that area?
I don't have a problem with them (though the plateau isn't really a plateau, beacuse of it's lack of altitude in the current claims in that area.)
After an extensive but fruitless search for any lore evidence, Yinnie and I had agreed the name "Ebon River" for what you've called the canal, but I can't remember whether that name ever got final approval from Nazz. (Unfortunately, the thread for this was on one of the previous forum incarnations.)
Cheers
Terrez.

i called the ebon river as u called a canal couse it is too graet as as river and zenithar couse old eb was about to be called port zenitar but that was rejected so i reutilized the name
trandel plateau is not referred to an altitude but instead to a flat plain ...the names i put all derive from a long and detailed lore research ... lol i'm jocking i usen fantasy ... dunmer names .. terminations ... some good sence and so on...

Unfortunately, the word "plateau" does imply altitude: "usually extensive level land area raised sharply above adjacent land on at least one side".
Funny that the earlier Tamriel and MW maps (on TIL) show this area as an upland, it's only that the claims built from the detailed TR MW maps that are low in altitude. (Probably due to the water level required for the smaller rivers.)
Interestingly, the name "Eagle Moor" implies an upland (Moor: "open cultivated upland, esp. when covered with heather" ).
However, unless we're going to raise all the land in the underlying claims to suit (which will play havoc with the local rivers!), I would suggest we find another word.
The name "Trandel" is alright, though I don't know what it means - there's no match on it in the TIL. I probably couldn't come up with anything better.
Also, I agree that the main river needs a more elaborate name, befitting it's size and importance, but I'm not sure "canal" works for this, as it tends to imply something more artificial. Perhaps "channel" would be better.
Again, the "Zenithar" part works for me, probably better than "Ebon River".
Only my thoughts/suggestions, for what they're worth.
Cheers

thanx for the suggestions .. i'm not an english speaker so may be for me words have a different weight ... we say in italian canal to indicate a water way sometimes of salt water like the suez canal or many others around the world .. and channel remembers me the tv channels but if u english speakers say that it suits better i'll change
Trandel as i told is a dunmer name
plateau also implies a altitude ... but i liked so much that combination of the names and by sight of the map iit seemed the better place for the name ... but i dubt that i'll find ever anyware any plateau becouse of the altitude of the water that cant be changed
all the names added are fictional but tring to keep an eye to lore names and similar aspects and i added only where we hadn't no references friom official lore that's why i'm asking u to correct this in that thread so
in the next upload i'll change the name of the canal to channel and the trandel plateau to ...?
another name for plains?
praeries?

Hi Nazz,Nazz wrote:I think Zenithar channel is a poor choice for that river. Even if the cult to Zenithar is staying in Old Ebonheart the Dunmer wouldn't name such a channel after one of the Aedra.
Nice to see you hanging around.
The original "working" name Yinnie and I came up with was "Ebon River" (singing "old man ribba"), cause we couldn't find any name for it in Lore.
Prom came up with Zenithar Canal, which we changed to Channel. Do you know if there's a Lore name for this river, or have an alternative suggestion for it?
Cheers
Terrez.
Prom: Silgrad Tower needs to be changed to Kogo'Tel. Maar Mok needs to be added, and Isra-Nium needs to be added. Refer to the interior claims forum under 'available town interiors for map 5' for the town's locations.

Can you add My dres city to the map? It's called Balsan Mar, Is the first TR thing to use one of majra's new dunmer words, and is at (23,-48 ) (on path from silnim dale to corkarth). Also, It adds a pass into Argonia going south towards Chasecreek and Riverwalk (I actually can see that, in the arena map, A road in argonia heads towards my new town but ends for no reason at all ).

Whats the name of that river that runs by Old Keep? It looks like Han Blodala but I can't really tell from the font.
Also I think we should go with the name Bethesda gave that big river that goes by Ebonheart in that concept map, which is River Thir

well i was the one that named all of the map places ... about the river thir i say that it is not a river ....so that is why i called it channel ... u can come with a better name but i would prefer it to be something else than a river couse is not ... it is like a huge fjord or gulf or "channel" something that is sea .... salt water not sweet water ....but if u still think is a huge river then i'll change to what u guys suggested..

the fold are when whoever's map that is was delivered to him in the game, it was folded and he didnt get rid of the creases. Mine is folded into twelfths(sp?), and if I scanned it right now it'd have a LOT of wierd marks...(like english translations under the names of the islands(and under the city of mournhold)
