Bright lights yes, and according to aro101 he'll get around to the vertex shading and _far.nifs when it's important.

actually those cliffs already have vertex shading (around where the rocks meet, its darker then the rest of the texture).

I'm going to assume they're talking about total mesh vertex shading, in order to make the cliff fit in with its surroundings.

I have been working on this one as well ;)
This claim includes a road junction two cells north of Rihad, and I have been working on the road going east and north on a short visit into 8-4 before continuing into Lady N's claim. So far the texturing is almost done and I've added some ponds and cliffs...

The picture whows a 5x5 area, just ignore the 5 cells on the right, they belong to my 8-1 claim.

I use the TrTerrainGMDirt, I think that's from the Goldmoor guidelines somewhere. And when it comes to matching it's only concerning landscape. My road leaves into 8-4...

That mandate is quite outdated. i think the dirt should be saved for small paths, major roads should be done in the brick. my opinion of course.

It could be discussed. But then I'd suggest a different kind of brick than the two we've got so far. They are not worn enough in my opinion :). Anyway, it's no big deal at the moment, and if the core could decide I'd happliy change it...

Edit: Screenshot update.

Yet.
There are so many things to do before I start to worry about that. I have one installation of Oblivion, and the many other mods I'm running may cause some conflicts. Right now my Oblivion folder is 17 gig. Ironically enough I don't play Oblivion anymore... my character is solely dedicated to keeping TR modding at its present pace :).

Do you have any step by step guidelines on how to get it to work?

Well, yes:
Download the lod files.
Unpack them in the right folder.
Disable any other mods.

The landscape looks very nice. The LC set is going to need some texture love though... and we'll have to do something about those yellow canopies.

I pm'ed you the draft :)

Progress today is related to placing the exteriors for the three interiors that is within this claim. I found locations for all three hostile interiors, as well as the inn and the bandit camp(which has no interior). Plus I've completed another few cells, which basically means fixing floaters and sinkers.

Since this claim actually is finishable with the existing Oot, I'm focusing on this one the next couple of weeks. I am vertex shading the heck out of this one, and nearly every single cell has been edited now, painting the existing flora, rocks and stuff into the landscape. The ruined fort is finished, with a few nice touches to it.

Alot of new stuff added and done, but nearly all my grass is gone! Only some small patches of wetsandgrass at the south west end of this claim has visible grass popping up, everywhere else is suckage Morrowindesque grass!

Please, anyone, download my latest WIP and see if this happens to you as well.

coc to rihadjunction, there should be grass textures close.

Edit: I added vanilla grass, and that had animated grass. But no Oot grass showing.

Though some places are without grass, it looked like the texture on the land wouldn't have grass anyways. Maybe you've misplaced a file, or I have files in places where file paths used to exist but don't now (hard to say).

Did you check the land textures window ("I" key when landscape editor is open) to see if the places you were looking at were supposed to have grass? The percentages of those textures in the cells?

Is your .ini file tweaked in any way? That has been known to cause unforeseen results as well. That's the only other thing I can think of...

That won't help all the time I have vanilla grass showing as normal in game :), as mentioned above. I don't know what's causing it, but as long as the rest of you don't have any trouble I guess it's just a matter of reinstalling Oblivion. I've added all too many mods anyway. I spent a whole day deciding amongst mods, tweaking, fixing and setting it all up, only to play the game for like four hours until bleh, boooring. Back to modding...

Doh, a complete reinstallation of Oblivion didn't help either...

Uninstall
Delete Data folder
Delete .ini
Reinstall everything

No dice... Are you sure the Oot grass is enabled as well as the vanilla? I only get vanilla grass showing!

?

Nevermind, I did another complete reinstall, this time to another disk. Grass popped up as it should. However, I have another thing to add to the debacle.

1: This is how it looks in the CS. Three clearly visible ponds and cliff sides.

2: Then we go in game, and what the heck happened? You can barely make out some of the cliffs I mentioned, and a sucky grass field has decided to rape my cliffside camp.

3: Here it is, as seen in the CS shot, only closer and below the grass I so dearly missed earlier today (grrrr)

My installment of Oblivion is fresh as of this very evening! No other mods or esms than the required ones. Is it because I haven't edited this cell recently? Or is it simply because Bethassda Softworks crappy excuse of a CS just simply blows?

In that third pic, is that grass up along the top edge? And... that's the ground down below?

[Finds this so strange that he rechecks Nemon's haunted claim again]

Oh... that's the LOD mesh? Odd.

[Tests some things in the CS]

[Lots of his crazy ideas flop]

[Searches ESF, finds some interesting things, tries more insane ideas, which also lead to nothing new]

I've been doing that for the past few hours. Sadly, I've come up with nothing but this thread which mentions something about it. However, I don't think I had this problem while working on Taneth, and LN may have further information.

i really have no idea. i KNOW that it occurs in cells that are changed in height from the esm. the grass above land thing occurs in child city worldspaces, though there is no land at all beneath it. lowering the landscape beneath sea level seems to induce it, as both you and i had the problem around ponds. its 11 here rightnow, ill talk to you tomorrow.

Well, I couldn't solve the problem, and I couldn't recreate the problem either (see my post in your thread on ESF, Nemon).

If nothing else, it looks like you can reset the land by clearing out the Land record of those cells in the .esp; I tried it, edited one of the cells, and it stayed that way in-game...

Hey, yeah I took a look at the bgs-thread again, and if I understand you correctly, I have to:

Delete the landscape data for the three cells in question, and then redo them? Won't I just rescrew everything when I edit water height?

The water heights may or may not have anything to do with the error. Regardless, clearing the "Land" record doesn't change the water height back.

I'd like to have this claim previewed :) It's kinda like a review only that it's not. The reason is simple, I want to have anyone try downloading it, loading it up and coc to rihadjunction and then have a walk around it.

It IS dirty, meaning that some of the neighbouring cells have been altered. Somehow removing these references causes some of the cell landscaping to flat out for no good reason. Lady N, have you learned to edit the cells just like our friend from Silgrad did? Maybe you could try it?

Anyway, preview! Newest file on first page.
