Claim type: Exterior
Claim ID: TR_4-32-Red (#241)
Faction: Redoran
Claimed by: Scamp
Status: Approved (Progress: 100%)
Location: (-17,-18):(-16,-22), Size: 10
Files: TR_4-32-Red_Haplo_1.esp

---

Western edge of the province, Velothi Mountains. Should have very high elevation, difficult or impossible to climb without magical assistance.

If you're working from what's there on the existing Map 4 file, remove the ashlander village and the stronghold in the mountain. You can have a yurt or two, along with some caves, but that's it.

Granting. If you want to add an extra column of cells to the western edge, for distant viewing purposes (inaccessible, sparsely-detailed sub-100 static cells), feel free to.

WIP for 4-22 uploaded, you might want to have a look at it for border matching. We're reacing for the top here :) .

Ps, keep max height below 16509 z-value.

Nemon in 4-16 thread wrote:Please bring it up to 50% of my neighboring cells mountain height, then add a steep cliff above it. That would look awesome, and we need more winding roads on mountains. Oblivion had tons of these, and we have the possibility to do it here.

Cosy village btw...
May I move the village a bit though?

The people of IRC have already decided that the village should be elevated and the people of it should be herding mammothguars. Indeed.

This is the alteration I suggested in a PM. The village is elevated a little, and my mountain in 4-16 is continued down into this.

I thought you were keeping the village in -17 -22, if you're not too attached to it it would be very cool if you could move it there. As of now it's kinda close to the daedric ruin...

Brilliant border matching btw, really nice transition.

Very good work. It flows with the current merged/finished areas and will feature a good border when done. I suggest using a different texture for the path up to the village, plus some extra rocks along the way...

Really beautiful work. Only comment would be that there's no way to get to that village from the rest of civilisation (which there really ought to be because this entire region is so sexy), the path out is defunct and just leads to a dead end.

There are already some pre-existing 'mountain trails' in this claim and 4-16 which could be given more roady textures to create a Velothi Mountains trail from Kragenmoor to here (and beyond if you chose to extend it in the other direction). The green lines in road1 are where the existing 'path' could be extended through an anomalous finger of Ashland by making it VM.

Would require some work in 4-8 as well (road2) but as you can tell from the screen some major major border work is gonna need to be done there soon anyway. :P

Maybe once all three claims are wrapped up someone could sort out these various merging issues.

Alright, sounds like a lot of work actually, but I already mentioned somewhere that 4-8 will have to be matched with 4-16 eitherway to make nice transitions (yeah, you can indeed see it well on the second screenshot).
I have already talked to Nemon about our plans for VM, I'm going to wait until he has posted here before I say anything else.

Crap on a stick, the Bloodthirsty Crustacean has a valid point on this road. And I'm not going to go anal and delete your village, so I say just make the road to the border and I'll continue on it in 4-16.

Check my thread for new WIP. And I think I'll keep the road as a foresty path thingy. I'll add more stuff to explain that later, now just get the border matched. And use the same texture some distance into your as well, this is not a much travelled road...

Pretty much finished, this.

However, please don't move this to reviewing yet because I want people (BC, or Nemon :?: ) to look at it because of the road and other stuff.

Once again, really stunningly beautiful claim.

On the road, it doesn't really need any input from me - it looks fine, and does its job of joining this place to the wider road network if 4-16 and 4-8 have the path extended through them.

Personally I'd prefer a road with an actual road texture, just so its more intuitive to a player to actually walk up it, but Nemon's the man with the vision here, so it's his call.

Worth discussing extending the road further north through the mountains up the Velothis? Any destinations need linking up there?

I have decided to keep the landscaping in 4-16 as it is. Making the narrow valley a road would mean tremendous amount of editing the natural flow of statics, flora and layout. I feel that by adding "traces of civilization" instead, we can still make this path flow naturally through 4-16 and into this claim.

Scamp, I still have to finish setting up my rig after changing some hardware, I probably won't have time until tomorrow evening so I can only rely on your beautiful screenshots for now.

I don't want to add a road going north from here, we have a road going north in 4-44, 4-45, 4-6 and 4-47, and it works fine in my opinion. I would, however, love to see some small quest line be added for this village in the future, sending the player all around this area... but that's for later :) .

sounds good, just remember that unless the valley path is extended from 4-16 to 4-8 then the problem of this village having no contact with the outside world and the road out of town just being a dead end still stands.

I've installed everything now and had a look at the claim. It looks really good! Some parts of the path seemed to have some rocks making it hard to pass, so perhaps fix that. Also, some grass in the village could be lowered a little more. Very nice gorge between the village and the daedric ruin, but I had trouble finding the entrance to the ruin :) .

I'm really looking forward to seeing this merged with the RR, armun and thirr region. It'll be awesome to see the view from these mountains.

Great work, why the hell didn't you start working for TR earlier?

A huge thanks to everyone who commented on the claim, it really encourages me!
hehe Nemon, isn't it kinda good that the ruin has some "mazy" feeling about it?
Great work, why the hell didn't you start working for TR earlier?
dunno, it might be because I just found out about the project last year and then I joined straight away 8)

Should be all fine now. Happy reviewing!

Note for the Catwat

Interiors for the claim:

1

Redoran Village (-17 -21):

These are just a few suggestions:

1. Inn
2. Trader
3. Something related to the nearby daedric ruin

(information shamelessly stolen from TF on IRC)

2

Daedric Ruin (also -17 -21)

3

Review: Some floating rubble about the daedric ruin. Otherwise, pretty good.

Comments Love the way you used the vertical nature of this claim by tucking things like the little Redoran hamlet onto the side of the escarpment. Well designed and executed.

Good job Scamp.
