5-3-Red

Post by Haplo »

Claim type: Exterior
Claim ID: TR_5-3-Red (#170)
Faction: Redoran
Claimed by: Nemon
Status: Approved (Progress: 100%)
Location: (-24,3):(-22,1), Size: 9
Files: TR_5-3-Red_Haplo_1.esp

---

A little Velothi mountains and mostly Ash Swamp. See 5-15, 5-25 and 5-6 for VM inspiration, and the concept in 5-21 for Ash Swamp reference.

Use the heightmap provided in this thread: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?t=19347

Note that cleaning irrelevant cells may create land tears, so backup your work regularly and often.

For this part of the VM region use BM statics. For AS use our new statics + static trama roots and a few RM rock types. This claim includes a little main road from 5-23, side road from 5-2 and two rivers starting in this very claim, running into 5-27 and 5-21.

Incredibly preliminary file up with the bottom layer of ground textures applied and road paths included.

EDIT: Rivers are now outlined.

Though this is low priority, have you got any updates?

Fuck, I totally forgot about this. In the interest of time I will be dropping this to shift my focus elsewhere. My posted WIP contains basically the ground + 1.5 layers of land textures.

It would be nice if the Ashlanders here had something prominent to do with Alandro Sul, whose ancestral clanstead really should be/is Kogotel. Perhaps the Redoran hire them as scouts or for procuring the rare ingredients of the swamp in return for allowing them access to the tomb/wraithmail of Alandro Sul?

Good idea. And the irc vote favored a yes to an ashlander presence.

Why would proud Ashlanders agree to that deal though? The tomb / wraithmail would be theirs by rights to access, so I do'nt think it makes a great deal of sense for them to "buy" that right.

Ashlanders still need a way to survive. So while I agree with your logic, it would still be a good reason to have the Sul Ashlander Camp there.

This tension between Ashlanders need to survive and a feel of ancient privilege to visit the tomb offers background for a nice questline.

I strongly feel there shouldn't be any ashlanders on the mainland to begin with, but that's another discussion I won't be having here. Let's just not add any further ones.

Now about this particular camp. Leave Alandro Sul out of this. Under no circumstance should be the "Sul Camp" or anything similar. 'Sul' is a honorific, not a name. Secondly, it's wrong to think of Alandro as an ashlander, because the distinction didn't exist in his time and in fact is only relevant in the light of what Alandro came to teach them after Red Mountain.

He is most definitely not buried in Kogotel. He went into exile among the nomad tribes and died there. His Wraithmail is mostly definitely not kept there, since it was disassembled at Alandro's death and the ringlets were distributed among the tribes. In addition, the object is highly sacrilegious to the House Dunmer and is in fact as close to a heretic relic as it gets. The official story is that it doesn't even exist.

Make this tribe the ash swamp tribe. Think of them as bayou people, if you will. The ashswamp is a place where sensible, civilized Redoran don't go. They trade some of the rarer objects from the heart of the swamp with the outside world.

aside from all controversy, going off screens at BGSF that ashlander camp is a masterpiece of understatedly intricate exterior design. classic work Nemon!

Off to review, you little bitch.

Interiors:
-24 3:
- Ashlandic camp, four tents. Adanorcil had a few ideas regarding this.
- Cave, maybe related to the camp?

-23 3:
- Velothi tomb
- Shack, random fellow

-23 2:
- Double cave, two entrances. Bandits hang out here.

Note that there are some minor fixes needed to be done when border matching with 5-27. I will fix that in a map merge.
