It's not necessarily related to Skyrim being good or not, but I do agree with Haplo. In a broad sense, since I naturally assume he doesn't mean male Orc no 1 looks like female Breton no 4. But if you look at the races themselves, the variation between the different categorized subgroups seems to have the same presets set. That said, I believe the in game NPCs will have greater variation, since Beth vanilla modders will alter stuff before release.

All of the humans and elves (and to an extent, the orcs) look like Nord-Imperial crossbreeds, and they ALL look like they've been given the mud-caked Native American make-over.

The human girls, at least (didn't look at the rest) all have the exact same bone structure/skull. And I mean exact. Ridiculous.

Glad to see the new look of the various races. Up until now every single screenshot I've seen of Skyrim had exclusively Nord characters, and I was worried for a minute that they were going to pull a Dragon Age II and force you to play as a Nord.

I'll be buying the game, naturally. I'm sure it will be very fun, cinematic, epic, and all those other things you expect from a TES game, but I have exactly zero expectations of it surpassing Morrowind, which remains on my high throne of "Best Video Game Ever, Period."

I know what you mean. Hopefully it's only an issue when you see them all lined up like this, wearing the same clothes.

At least one of the Bosmer males looks a bit apelike. I approve of that enormously.

I don't see why them looking dirty is a bad thing. You go roaming around in caves and forests all day and see if you don't look a bit grubby.

I love the mer, all of them, especially the bosmer.

The break on blogs is the cutoff you get when you look on the main page, where there's usually the first paragraph followed by a "continue reading full article" link o.O Like, go to the main page of the blog and see.

Interesting to see the lies from back when Oblivion was being released. I love the one where they say "Oblivion is infinitely better than Morrowind in every way". Can't wait until 11/11/11 to see how Todd Howard has been lying to us about Skyrim :-)

Lying would be if they thought Oblivion sucked balls but said that it was better than MW. There are plenty of people who prefer Oblivion to Morrowind. There's also the whole development process to keep in mind - remember how many times TR 'lied' about release dates, content, etc.?

Thanks. I needed that earworm. It's true though. "Other games" are just things you play until the next TES comes out.

I've been keeping more or less up-to-date with the concept art, character design, world design and most of the videos through the Skyrim Facebook page. So far, I have to say I'm loving 90% of what they've done, especially with the cities and the armour (although still disappointed in the further reduction of number of armour types). I hope that future TES games each have their own art style (compare Morrowind to Skyrim visually, ignoring the decade-long technology gap, if you don't get what I mean). If this series survives into future, think how cool it would be to be able to look back at the varying worlds of the varying games, and how different dev teams interpreted Tamriel, and its buildings, and its clothes, and its provinces. Skyrim is looking a little "gritty" (like you've all said, they all look mud-caked) compared to Oblivion, which was bright and LotR-esque, compared to Morrowind, which was dark and exotic. I wonder what province we'll be seeing 5 years down the line with TESVI?

on a slightly related note, I saw many screenshots at the end of this article that give me flashbacks to Morrowind more than Oblivion. I nostalgia'd hard:

How would you pirate a box anyway, apart from full on somalia tier piracy?

I can see that basically everyone is playing this on Steam. It feels a little surreal. What are you guys up to? I've made a Dunmer mage and I'm burning zombies on my way to Winterhold. Great fun.

The interface is terrible though.

I guess it would take too much time to download this game from Steam outside the USA and Europe. this is way i can't risk buying the game from Steam...

I agree with you on that note, gro-Dhal. Might as well wait out the expansions they make and whatever issues they fix. It was the difference between Oblivion by itself for $50 and the GOTY edition for $30.

The interface for this game is glorious...

...on a console. It's so bad for the computer I had to buy an adapter so I could play it with the tool it was designed with. That's the first mod I'm getting when they finally drop the CS.

Two things:

An interface mod! It needs a lot of work but it's already a vast improvement over the vanilla interface.
