5-20-Red

Post by Haplo »

Claim type: Exterior
Claim ID: TR_5-20-Red (#1576)
Faction: Redoran
Claimed by: alex25
Status: Approved (Progress: 100%)
Location: (-21,7):(-18,4), Size: 16
Files: TR_5-20-Red_Haplo_1.esp; TR_5-20-Red_alex25_6.esp

---

Velothi mountains and Ash Swamp. See 5-15, 5-25 and 5-6 for VM inspiration, and the concept in 5-21 for Ash Swamp reference.

Use the heightmap provided in this thread: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?t=19347

Note that cleaning irrelevant cells may create land tears, so backup your work regularly and often.

For this part of the VM region use BM statics. For AS use our new statics + static trama roots and a few RM rock types. This claim includes a main road from 5-27 going north into 5-18, as well as a river starting here, running into 5-27 and coming back again in the southeast cell, running into 5-24.

Because I haven't checked 100% yet to see if they need redoing. Why is there an interior awaiting final review in the reviewing board?

There is a rather large difference between a claim in N/A and a claim in final reviewing. And because you mentioned it, the only claim left in final reviewing is there because I am unable to do it at the moment.

meh, I just don't like seeing stuff that could be being worked on sitting idle.

I really don't have time for this claim right now, please revoke it :/ if I get any work done on it, I'll take it back up and post a file, but I don't want to prevent others from having a go at what's a pretty cool location. Sorry!

Claymore!

Some nice Velothi mountains served on a bed of BM textures, accompanied by a wine made of the murky waters of the Ash Swamp.

I'll make the river springs into some nice waterfalls.
some caves/tombs as usual.

I have. Although horrible land tears have messed up a lot of progress:/

so I had to ditch some of the cells I'd been working on and start over.

Wait wait wait, please upload any flawed esp and if you have them - earlier copies where the failed cells were ok (although maybe less detailed).

The source landscape file to work from should erase these issues, especially in this claim which isn't that varied in terms of height iirc. I'll have a look and see if anything is salvagable.

You should also upload the first version that is not clean, so we potentially get some clues on where land tears come from.

My guess would be Windows Vista and Windows 7 do not play nicely with the Construction Set.

arvisrend, land tears don't "come from" anywhere. It's a silly bug that appears from time to time. I have spent some days trying to find out when or why they appear, with no success. I got them at cells located in the Gold Coast of Cyrodiil, so it has nothing to do with "distance from cell 0,0". I also got them on perfectly flat land, so it has nothing to do with working on steep areas either.
And yeah, land tears suck.
(And it has nothing to do with Windows Vista or 7, I got land tears in winXP and I still get them in 7)

Isn't the gold coast of Cyrodiil like 1000 cells away from 0,0?

That's what I'm saying. People said before that the closer you get to cell 0,0, the more tears you get. Which can't be true because I was getting tears 1000 cells away from 0,0.

(Yay for spamming this thread with land tear discussion)

That makes sense then. Though I don't recall getting more land tears at the Gold Coast than in that one claim on the edge to map5. (Remember, 't was that one where you were trying to fix it for me and posted a video :P)
Can't be the distance. At TR, I got a lot more land tears than in cells beyond -150 and stuff (was just saying I got some tears there as well)

It's going a bit slow for my taste, but that's what happens when you try to combine RL with TR modding :)

Anyway. Slowly but steadily I'm working on it.

While I understand the gameplay logic behind it, I don't think important roads (this is going to be the main road to Baan Malur?) should pass that close by a Daedric ruin. (Most people play with MGE nowadays anyway, so they won't miss it.)
