I've just noticed that my version of the file throws an error on game load. This is due to a door being non-persistent, and makes me wonder why the original version didn't throw errors (probably it's because I renamed the script which referenced this non-persistent object, and now it gets checked on game load because it no longer has an invalid name). Anyway, fixed now. Also, did some easy bugs on Leon's list.

Some time ago Tyrion showed up in the channel and asked for exterioring work, so I told him about this claim. IIRC he took it (to fix the rest of Leon's buglist). I don't know whether he dropped it or something... Tyrion, are you here?

posting this here so that it's saved and public, these are the notes I took looking through this claim. Not a full review at all yet, I'm still working on that.

Overall, this claim has some great NPCing in it. Yeti can be proud. Do be careful about appending spaces to names and topics though, it breaks dialog links and results in funny formatting when using things like %Name and whatnot.

Bosmora -> Nix Mount attacking me near siltstrider, special ID? wut?
Emanor Dayn -> nix hound spawning in the middle of town near rickshaw.
Arvisrend suggested putting a Guar or Nix Mount by the rickshaws, to have something to pull them along. I could have sworn I made them non-hostile, but I guess I didn't.
Folvoso -> make this slave a non-dunmer.
Any particular reason why? Dunmer slaves aren't unheard of in Morrowind and Gorne seems like the kind place whose conservative Dunmer citizens would want to limit the number other races running around.

Who is working on this now? Why? Tyrion? If noone, can Leon maybe fix the bugs in my posts? It would be nice to see some progress here...

Also, can someone write up a short review of what House Indoril is about? I think we have some stuff like that in internal forums, but it's internal forums and part of it is obsolete. It doesn't have to be complete or final, just the current situation. How do the Indoril behave towards outlanders / Telvanni / Hlaalu / Redoran / Dres / Morag Tong / slaves? How autocratically do they rule over their part of the land? What is their stance on slavery/abolition, magic, free markets (in as far as such a thing exists in MW; but how much would they chicane a foreign merchant in Gorne, for example?)? Do they expect you to be a Temple member if you are to have a serious conversation with them? Would they shake the hands of an Imperial legionnaire?

I just want to have some data before being able to think of quests, even misc ones...

Nobody, really. It's up for grabs, though I believe it's mostly quests that need to be taken care of.

Done some de-levelscaling and rebalancing (stopped at Farys Ancestral Tomb, in the order of the cells in the file). Ossu creatures now respawn. The difficulty of Khananzr is now more about locks and traps than about random enemies. Useless whitespaces at ends of cellnames removed, and "Tomb" capitalized. Hopefully this hasn't invalidated any scripts. A couple of merchants now have restocking inventories, although more remains to be done.

This is now Unclaimed (I don't have time the next couple of days). Whoever takes it please post first!

Yeti: Great! Does this mean you're yielding the file? I'd want to do a couple minor fixes, too.

EDIT: a couple remarks on the quests:

The Indoril seem to me like the people that would rather go through proper channels to solve their troubles rather than entrust a foreigner. So anything remotely political would need some good reasons to be revealed to the player.

For the Treacherous Waters quest, can't we just let the ferrymen give this quest to the player? This needs not be in the form of "could you help us with this?", but rather can be "Yes, the prices are somewhat steep. Sorry for that, but with the diseased dreugh clawing our ships on the way, we cannot help but increase the prices." The player will figure out what has to be done himself, particularly if this makes a journal entry. Going through the townlords seems a bit over the top for this quest.

Is there a good reason for a smuggler to pose as a trader? Just asking. Even if there isn't, we could always change it to "a former smuggler now trying to live as a honest trader", which would make the blackmailing more viable.

Treacherous Waters: a small matter like this is probably fine as a misc quest even though it seems political. However, I don't think it is possible to make the price of the fares dynamic beyond disposition, and using disposition would be weird. Maybe have the boat service not run at all? That could be a little extreme.

Also, Ranalath is retired, his son Alveth in Almalexia is the Lord of Gorne. Though I'm fine with either of them being involved in the quest somehow, it's probably easier to have the shipmaster or the hetman initiate it.

Burglaries: ex-smuggler seems to make more sense, yes. Besides that, it's all good, I think.

I need to read Poison Song. :/

Go to where Kiseen is in the CS and look underneath his table :lol:

Concerning making the blackmail "viable" criminals back-stab each other all the time. Perhaps the smugglers in the mine think Kiseen is providing them with poor-quality goods, or he messed up some other way.

It isn't the worst book series in Morrowind, but some parts of it are a little melodramatic. I tried to avoid references to it while npcing Gorne, but just because its probably not an accurate "historical" work doesn't mean it can't be used to provide details on the "real" Gorne.

Someone should probably look through Gorne's dialogue and change any parts that still refer to him as the Lord of Gorne. But since Alveth lives in Almalexia and Ranalath is the ranking Sandil in Gorne, I imagine he would at least be the one in charge of the island's day-to-day affairs.

EDIT: Also, perhaps it would be best to come up with a different idea for Enamor Dayn's quest. After reading through "Treacherous Waters" again it seems to have a few inconsistencies and doesn't really reflect dialogue that's currently in the claim.

A possible quest idea I thought of although not entirely restricted to this claim, thinking back of the coast of the region when I made Gorne and was working on the detailing claim to the north...

The Nedothril Coast is pretty dangerous - lots of sharp pointy rocks both above and just below the surface of the water. As such, there are a lot of shipwrecks in the area.

Anyway, somewhere on the coast is a Nord or something looking for the wreck of a specific ship which he believes was downed on the coast between Necrom and Gorne. On the ship was his ancestor, carrying a specific axe or helmet or something. He wants it. The Nord may not even give the PC the quest specifically; if the PC finds it and gives it to him they get a reward.

Simple enough search and fetch quest in a way. Could be made quite a bit more difficult by using one of the non-interiorisable (thats now a word :]) wrecks.

Fixed some casperers and floaters, including that fucking tree in Bosmora. De-levelscaled Farys Ancestral Tomb and added some junkish TR loot (it was all vanilla loot). Added wares to merchants. Removed some whitespaces in NPC names and added ownership to stuff in their houses. Added some loot to a few bandits. De-levelscaled all remaining ints I wanted to de-levelscale. Fixed typo mentioned by TDF, but didn't improve any dialogue.

The file is free for taking again. I might at some point take it back for editing the last few merchant inventories, but that's not really important and can wait.

Also, the cave Vissamu needs some enemies, otherwise there is too much stuff free for taking in there.

What about this:

dispo 75 You might have heard already, but it seems a thief is loose in Bosmora. The guards have found no evidence other than possessions reported missing, but if you see something, do talk with [quest-relevant NPC].

dispo 50 It seems that Bosmora has a thief problem recently. The guards aren't yet following a lead, but most of us believe it is just a matter of time...

dispo 0 A thief is loose in Bosmora. Outlander scum, for sure.

Alright, after this file I'm dropping this claim for good.


Stuff done:

Added reference to Alveth Sandil as Lord of Gorne to Gorne's dialogue.

Added ownership to the loot in Vissamu so the Dreamers will attack you if you try to steal any of it.

Added arvisrend's new rumor dialouge for Bosmora.

Removed a copy of "N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis!" from Farys Ancestral Tomb since it didn't make sense to have a Necromancer book in a tomb owned by the leading family of nearby Bosmora.


Also, slaves in Salandus should be made free-able by someone who isn't me. :)

Yes, that book struck me as weird, but I didn't dare touch it.

Ohkay, this is my final version.

I've made vertex shading a bit less intensive under the bridge in 28, -18: [url=http://i.imgur.com/jCi5g.jpg]before[/url] vs. [url=http://i.imgur.com/hXD4Q.jpg]after[/url]. I guess that's reasonable?

Merchants in "Bosmora, Marketplace" are now way more useful, with rather good restocking items. (The smith has silver arrows/darts/bolts on restock, including the enchanted "cruel" variety. Revert if you think they're too good.) Gorne merchants also restock.

It is now illegal to sleep in Gorne and Enamor Dayn.

Slaves in Salandus are now freeable. This should be re-tested upon merge to mainland since the dialogue reply might get misplaced.

Cleaned out some dialogue that doesn't belong here. (For some reason tes3cmd didn't find it, but there was quite a lot of it. Topic "my trade" was touched without any actual changes or additions being made there.)

Haplo tells me the "Three-Legged Guar" has been renamed "The Emerald Haven". The original wasn't the most brilliant of names, but the new one still strikes me as considerably worse, no?

I agree with Adanorcil, I liked the old name better. I've looked through all the dialogue in the file and done some fixes. A few things:

Remember that we use American English for this mod, which means when describing an organization or group of people, we refer to them singularly. For example, instead of "the Sandil family are wealthy", we would say "the Sandil family is wealthy".

Also remember when to use apostrophes to denote possession and when not to. Your's and Seem's are always erroneous. It's only gets an apostrophe when it is a contraction of "it is", and NEVER when possessive. Finally, restaurant is the proper spelling :-)

The dialogue line about Madalin Rendays that is as follows: "She's that rich merchant's daughter, right? That poor man, he's so timid and sweet... I don't know how he ended up with a daughter like her."
I'd prefer a follow-up option so that the player can click a Continue option that says "What do you mean?" so that whoever says it can explain what exactly they mean by "a daughter like her".

Finally, the Enamor Dayn inn appears to have no vacancies; "The inn and housing complex, though there aren't any vacant rooms, can be found in the southern buildings of the city."
Is there a good reason for this? Every time we have an inn, it should have at least one room open for rent.

I also cleaned out a dirty wilderness cell north of the claim. Here is the file:

On Gorne; Vissamu cave is a Sixth House Den. Only a bunch of non hostile dreamers inside some are unique with names. Does this get a quest? Like investigate the weird people in the north that cause some disturbance on the normally quiet island. Also the Dreamers are still not attacking after you pick up the quite expensive loot that is in there. 7500 coins for free.
