yea, im planing to redo many of my early pieces since i still love how the concept but the style has definatly become outdated.

i drew there LONG before guildwars was out, or even anounce probably. and the new drawing is prety much like my original sketches.

yeas, i havent realy done much PS stuff cause it would require me to use up my compouter time, wich i prefer to use for other tasks. i did these almost entierly at school so none of my time was "wasted"

Speaking of Guild Wars... when we went through that huge Nightfall thread, I found one concept that really stuck out for me, not because the concept was cool but because of how it was drawn. I'll show it here:

As I said, the concept itself isn't particularly special. But it is drawn on top of a rendered game-model of the male body. If you'd like, Lady_N, I can make a template of the stock Oblivion human bodies from those three angles. It makes it much easier to model from, and I know you're interested in modelling as well as drawing.

if you click the originals at the end of the descriptions they most often have colors. part of the robes dosent because i managed to fuck up the coloring and photoshoped it out.

do you purposely draw concepts that make the meshers job easier, or is it instinctive? :] these are realy good designs. im not overly fond of #7 either; it looks more like a kung-fu gi to me. #8 is def my fav!

morke, these are re-draws of previous concepts. so yes, these versions are for modeling :D my original drawings are prety orthographic too though, so i supose its partly instinctive :P

i like #7, not sure why :P it may not fit too well into hammerfell, but what ever. the original influence wasent asian, it was russian actualy. though i do see the asian-ness now that you mention it XD

here is the original version of #7, maybe yall like it better in color.

it makes more sense now that i see whats where with the colors. perhaps another version could be taking the outer shirt and making it into a full-length cassok, with a split at the middles so you can still see the cool laces?

ok, more orthographics of old stuff!

another temple robe. the collar on this one is realy wierd and covers half the head. the alternative collar would only cover the neck (incase game mechanics dont alow the original concept). original

a lower class outfit. the pants and the shirt are sepparate!!! original

Love the one you love... the collar is awesome. Can really seesome. And on the first one, I'm sure somehow, the game mechnaics can allow it. IT woudl seema shame to destroy what amkes it really awesome.

tooo many bones.... biped animation is ancient gr33k to me. i played with a re-texture and a little mesh editing.
if this works then i'll just edit the OB robes until they fit your concepts, and then i can reassign the pre-made biped animation.

EDIT: stupid dump pic removed

this is my little colection of reference pictures of LC furn. basicaly, the closet comes closest to what the finial pieces will look like. the idea is that its old wood, stailed with age. due to the lack of wood in hammerfell reeds are woven to make up the extra survases. the only thing that the woven reed/small wood image wont work for is the big table, ill have to do a sepparate concept for that.

***I need these approved for modeling by fairwater and/or noirgrim!!! i will do clarifying concepts if yall need, but i can model from the above images!!!***

*** Please read above notes for clerification!

while looking for good images on the net i also came acros this potery. i think its good for more decorative LC. after all, not all lower class has to be junky. they gota show off and bring some color in there somehow.

Colour is good for LC, but these furnitures is not LC. I would say MC or perhaps UC. They are far to detailed and well crafted. Make them more simple and perhaps, but as they look now. Nah.

They are nice though.

these are definatly not UC (this is UC). im not too keen about them bieng MC either personaly. i dont want these totaly worn out like the cyrodiil LC set because not all lower classes are that poor (especialy in rihad). i was going more for a MW LC feel, it was poor but not shity. I was planing on making changes, namly removing a good amount of detail.

I think that Lady N meant the large, rectangular closet, which IMO suit the LC brilliantly. Just think of the diamond screen etc. as being reed-built. As for the other pictures, they were probably just there as examples about the general shape, and for re-inforcing the style. I'd like to see how we manage to make it a very prctical and economical set without making it look ugly. :D

ok, here is the WIP dwemer set. this is of the Stone and Metal set, one of the 2 distinct styles found in the dwemer ruins at stros m'kai. you will notice that these are very general. becuase i dont have very many pics to go from i can only do basic stuff untill i get more and better pictures. the Gray Stone set is comming a bit later from now.

Very spot-on drawings here, N! A good revival of the Redguard dwemeri architecture, combined with some good old fashioned MW dwemeri arch, makes for a well made Rourken set. I don't see any need to stray from the originals, except in polys and textures.

The clothing and culturework is absotively beautiful, to say the least. You're so much better at ornate design than I could ever :D

Do either have softbodies or fluid/cloth simulations?

I Really liked some of the designs in the begining of this thread.

they probably do, but im far from an expert in either. most of my concepts can be created by modifying and combining beth meshes however.

hms, this reminds me. when i try to import an obj into a clothing mesh in nifscope it gives me an error that says that the object is preped for skinning but the obj does not support skinning with vertex weights. i choose to import it anyways, but it shows up with a lot of polygons missing. any idea what the error is about and how i can fix it? i would realy love to be able to bring some new apparel into hammerfell.

on the left if a front view of the bridge, on the top right is the underside of the bridge. below that is a very rough 3D sketch. the 2 round things are lamps and below them is a gray stone colum

I like the way you've made the column, meaning that it's not round but multi-sided. Very nice. I also like the bridge, but it's too vanilla Morrowind. Then again, it's a very rough design as I understand.

the bridge is directly from Redguard (i printed a schreenshot, then i drew it making the patters on the texture out as best i could), so i dont see a reason for changing it much.

as for furn, yes im still doing that. i had rough sketches of the LC done before i left but i forgot to upload them in the hastle.

now, for the time being, here are some concepts.

le helm de smurf. not realy hammerfell, but i like it :D

pregnant concubine sketch. ignore the cat :P

now for the actual stuff, starting with the very first concepts for the next arch ; based directly on the morocan earlier in this thread and on the PGE. because i had neither on hand when i drew them some parts are not entierly acurate. again, a very early draft still to be revised. the XXXX represent the areas wich would be covered by the actual pattern.

modulars for both MC and LC

gate sketch. better with or without the domes?

Now for the Dwemer sketches. the ones on graph paper were done in a moving train with crayola markers. dont diss :P

Dwemer stuff. based strongly on morrowind as redguard had no examples of this stuff.

More dwemer stuff, again with a morrowind basis. the container thing is mostly imagination.

Some dwemer pipe lights. the light itself is a thin glass tube with some kind of gass in it. strong basis on MW but with more elaboration. personaly, i realy like these lights and think it would be cool to have them along side with redguard's half-sphere lights (or what i asumed were lights from the screens...)

Woah! I got rid of my headache and finished the wall set, now I can comment the drawings ;) About the Arch sets, where do you intend to use them?

The LC. I like it. They look almost ancient. Is it just a first sketch or do you want them to have such a simple design?
The MC. When I first looked at it, I didn't see enough difference comparing to the LC. But my second thoughts say, that the biggest difference can be in the textures, not the shapes. But still, I think more details won't hurt here. For example, the modulars are different and detailed enough for our needs IMHO.

Dwemer sketches. I like the first one. Interesting, detailed and easy for me to model out ideas. I mean I wouldn't have any difficuilties with interpreting this one into meshes and later textures.
The second dwemer stuff. Looks very very morrowind-like. Which is good because I love morro. And which is bad, because I don't see enough new details. But of course you can improve it ;)

And... Cool lamps!
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?
PoHa: I know! we'll shoot an Aro at them
Aro: you have only one Aro missile!
PoHa: yes, but its heat seeking and quite possibly indestructible

i realy do want to keep a very simple (yet in my mind elegant) design for the buildings. colums and the like will come in on the UC part of the set. the main difference in the MC from LC is the refinement of the set. the upper knoby things on the LC are just large stones, while in the MC they are rounded and part of the building. the MC also has an actual door, and the windows will be more elaborate too (not very obvious on those early sketches). the MC also uses more wood. they will probably end up being more destinct as the set progreses, but i believe that they still need to look cohesive (a problem we ran into with GM design).

the dwemer do pose a problem in terms of creativity. While on one hand we cant go too far away from the alredy established dwemer we also cant parallel them exactly. Redguard's set is very simple (because the game is so old) so i had to elaborate it based on the morrowind set. the more pictures of redguard i get (there are very few good ones on the net) the better this set will become. Also, keep in mind that we still have several regions to do untill the dwemer set comes in (around Gilane)

Hold on for a few more days and you'll have the whole Redguard Dwemeri set to look through - I pretty much documented everything from patterns in the stonework to architecture, statues, materials, walls, floor, doors, arches, centurion spheres, ceilings, flags/panels, artwork, glyphs/letters, lights/lamps, columns/pillars, emblems/insignias, pipes, machines, escalators (yes, escalators!), traps, lava, tunnels, steps, carvings, enamelling (or so it seems), cogs, paintings, bridges, rope swings, and last but not least giant rubix cube style scarab bettles.

You can close your mouth now - you're drooling.

I should comment because I looked at your concepts, they are very helpful. One concern that I have is that the Helkori buildings look almost fully Hammerfellian in my mind and we only want that to happen in the alik'r set. So a little less moroocan-like couldn't hurt in my opinion. Apart from this they are really nice concepts which look pretty Helkori to me. I really would like to have more dwemer lights as an interior builder and your ideas would be fine for that.

heh, i actualy went quite in the oposite directio and moroconised them even more for the updated concepts (still have to get my scaner hooked up after we moved the comp). if we dont like them for the helkori, we can always leave them for another region. from what i know the alik'r region, it is supose to be stereotypicaly islamic not quite morrocan. but im sure we can make that interesting too.

anyhow, ill upload concepts of the buildings when i get my scaner up. then well see what we want to do with them

nalin: yes, i was drooling :) would it be too much of a hastle to document the general city and landscape of stros m'kai? maybe not in such detial, but the general look of the buildings and terrain. i want the island to be as lore acurate as posible (redguard + 500 years :))
