just a very unfinished piece of atmosphere to get me into a rourken mood of drawing. I'm also attempting to get some weird architecture in sooner or later, so stay tuned

Hey hey Lutemoth, now.

I see Kokopelli!

And where's my quote about the fire spirit from May? I'll get TF to give it to me.

Found it.
  • To the Qitajaña tribe, they are the mogla-muña, the "wheel of fire." In the archives at Gilane, they are a flaming ghost or a flaming snake (or a flaming mountain or a flaming ship or a flaming wave, or a dozen other flaming things). Hegathe records Tomba Gimon Ei-Jayat dying in battle against one, who's "six arms of fire and nine arms of wind...reached out from the depths of nowhere to pull in the souls of all who came near."* The only thing all descriptions have in common is the mask, required of all spirits in the Yoko tradition, which formed a centrifuge for the spirit's form.

*Near in this translation is on the scale of cities, being anywhere from one to twenty kilometers.
-From "Wind-and-Fire Spirit," Encyclopædia of Lower Hammerfell and the Abecean Islands by Erolus Tetronomes

Wow... is there was such a thing as artistic ejaculation it would be this... That is vulgar, but... I love the top one so much. That is so awesome. It is superb.

The second ibe is also pretty awesome, but I don't feel the "Hammerfell"ness on the last one. I think it's nice that there is elven influence (especially the ears) but I think making it too decorative and... I don't knwo what the word I am lookign for is. It's kind of spikey, and very elven in that sense.

Do you make up those fantastic captions?

actually, the last one is the Yoku depiction of Vivec, upon his visit to the Ansu sword-singers of Yokuda. When a god-king lady-makes your men and impregnates your kings with horrific monsters, you remember his face.

mentioning that, the quotes are from "Lord Vivec's sword-meeting with Cyrus the restless". A little something the Ansu mention :D

Well, I am happy then. And you could still tell the style of art. And it's just so kind of (sorry to refer once again to sex) sexy to mix two cultures in one piece of art. And to be able to able to describe it as "god-king lady-making" is just genius, haha.

Great work.

And thanks a lot for the link too.

burying is for suckers. we need to keep him from decomposing in an awesome monument -- like lenin -- so that we can wurship him till the world is undone. though that would be even more expensive...

(i dont think hes dead, probably off in real life again)

Archived everything (except first post) from the beginning of the page up to January 26th of this year, since that's the date on the first page. I did it because this thread had reached maximum capacity and wasn't really working at all for some of us.

mayhaps we can keep the thread in CA forums, but lable it with an OLD sufix? it would be easier as one could see the discusion and descriptions to acompany the art.

If you want to go through the thread and move only Lutemoth's posts here that include concept art and leave the rest there, go ahead. I'm not going through 800 posts again 0.o

Long time since the last picture, no?

My proposal for a city wall:

A procession of scaling vertical houses in a circle or semi-circle around a city. All housing would belong lower-class farm families, who tend to crops further out beyond the city.

The design itself is well suited against invasion, as it eliminates any possibility of "level playing field" tactics. All houses are connected together, and the only possible way to scale the wall is through, dealing with guerrilla based combat (to which we all know is where Redguards thrive in). To top it all off, even if said invading forces enter through the wall, they are still at ground level, due to the vertical incline of the housing :P

Nice to see the concept art section highlighted for once. :P I wait for it, but it never happens.

That design would be so amazing if it were actually implimented. Macar reminded me of a very similar IRL city with an extremely forgettable name, where the design and defensive mechanism was very similar.

Good to see some art from you. Your mind definitely ticks differently than your average person. :)

That's impressive. All I think about right now is if it is doable with our LC set...
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?

i think is doable, but i would prefer to save it for later. i sugested Skaven on IRC last night, and i still think it would work. depending on how architectue is rationed out over the province (wich i hope to get decided soon...) we could plan the architecture set specificaly for this kind of situation.

this was originally a request for a dunmer sword-singer, but it got me to thinking about forebear or Raga porcelain scales:

Just strange, to see two separate things so close. But it looks great, and looking more at the design you depict the sword singers as a tiny deviation of Raga for themselves, I like it a lot. And I love the way this Dunmer is attempting to fit in, beaded hear, but no cornrows, his hair is too fine. This is a very inspiring piece for me.

I don't understand why he has Sakatal emblems on his cloth though. Especially if these are followers of Leki. I am still in the process of learning all this stuff, sorry for my ignorance.

That Satakal sash is a nice touch. There haven't been many Yokudan clothing-print concepts so far. The Leki mask is also well designed.. and slightly reminds me of the Ordinator armour, which ties in well with this dunmner fighter.

I look forward to seeing your ruin designs... a ruin set is something we could really use.

Yeah...Didn't even bother saying who requested it, eh Flutefly? :P

Not that it is that relevant, but I am the one who requested the Dunmer Sword-Singer (Who btw is my character, Rogus Rarayn around 50 years into the future)

So don't you base your characters around him! :P

No idea if this is the right place to ask but whatever... Thought I at least should post it in a live thread. :)

I see my self as a "well above average" artist and think it would be fun to draw some concepts, but I have some questions first. I understand there's some kind of chain here and is there anything before concept, maybe some lore or something that I should be aware of? Or can i just draw what I think may fit?

Second, I notice that there's mostly Hammerfell lconcept. Is there still need for Morrowind concept, and if there isn't, can I draw something OBish if I never played it? (lousy computer)

Now to something more practical. I have Photoshop ( version 7 maybe ) but I draw like a five-year-old when I use it. Do you get used to drawing on computers after a while or will it take me years to learn to draw as good as on paper? I understand that you can take photos and such on drawings but that feels a little bit too slow and all of that compared to images already in the computer. And you can probably colourize(?) them easier if you want to in the computer.

Yeah, thats all. Hope someone can give some tips. :)

technicaly, only hammerfell and morrowind are open to concepting. however, you can still draw stuff that relates to the provinces indirectly. or, if you want to do something for a compleatly dfifferent province, place it in the off-topic CA thread. you dont need to have played OB to draw for it, but basic lore knowlege is preferable.

@Pound: I wouldn't say that he is a follower of Leki. After all, it was a great host of deeds amongst her brothers and sisters of shehai that she became a swordsaint. As far as I can tell, when a Swordsinger is of a high enough calibre and honor, they inherit their own stone and feather mask, that attributes their image. for what determines how a Yoku mask to look like it's owner is beyond all those that aren't ceramic craftsmen and Raga.

"He is of great Ansei, mab'ro. Do you not see his eyes?"

@Xeth: The names of suspects involved have been withheld? :P

@Pown: A lot of the drawings I have shown here (if not all of them :D) have been simply done with paper, pencil and pen, then scanned into photoshop, where I adjust the contrast and brightness to remove any bits of dust or eraser.

As for drawing in photoshop, I just stay away from it, and colour things instead, heheh. Black and white line-drawings are a lot easier to colour with in photoshop, but that's just my opinion :D
