Elfanes Concept Art

Post by Elfane »

Welcome to my concept art thread.
Here I will post the art I make for TR. I have categorized the drawings so it will be easy to find.

If there is a picture that you want more angles of or changed so it would fit better into Hammefell, please dont hesitate to ask.

I would also appriciate your comments and feedback, no change that... I demand it. :D

Enjoy!

Nope, no art lessons. Except those in school but that was very basic. But unlike most people that stop drawing when their childhood ends I continued. So basicly I am selftaught.

Agh! What I miss in a day's time!

First and foremost, welcome to the Concept Art Board! From the already numerous drawings you've shown us, it's clear your work is both skilled and imaginative as well as it is eager to contribute :D

And self-taught? It just goes to show how enthusiasm for a pencil and pad will go a long way. I'm quite impressed with your skill-level already, and your architecture shows true understanding - better than my attempts at buildings, no less!

Take a look around the CA forum if you haven't already. Most importantly, here's hope you enjoy your stay!

Hey some lovely clothing, it looks authentic, and woudl be great for PR work with that cross-hatching. Self-taught is the best way. Beautiful.

Actualy, your coloring styles does match the Bethesda art for oblivion: So it would be great if we could use some of your illustrations for ingame books.

From the look of it you like my style, I appreciate that.

-->Ayeldail - I do some freelance artwork from time to time, mostly magazine illustrations. Am also currently working on a childrens book that should be released this fall. So semi-proffesional anway. And yes, maybe I can make an armour set. Any suggestions for what kind?

-->Macar - The ingame art are mostly acryl coloured. I colour with aquarelle, but yes it would work good ingame. Sorry dont mean to be picky.

If there is any image that you want to realize in a 3d prog i can make more detailed sketches in all angles. Just give me the heads up.

Currently working on a detailed shamshir, a curved longsword that is.

Well the shamshir I was talking about was destroyed in an accident. My friend and his son where over to visit and there was a small mishap.
When I get the energy to start all over, I will do that.

But in the meantime here is a hexagonal tower I made on a traintrip, hence the rough quality. But you get the picture

Looks great again. The hex tower fits well with the other buildings you've posted. I'm personaly in favor of this style being used for at least 1 of the citties we do.

IMO thats great! Detailes are always good for modellers and also if you paint them from different perspectives as you did with the tower.

Here is something I found in a book of mine, about african culture.

Imagine that your character is sneaking into a cave somewhere in Hammerfell. Outside there was some bones scattered.

When you explore the cave, eventually you get to a room with a fire burning and a shrine is a bit further away. The shrine itself is made of stone and has a carving of a skull. It is covered in blood. On the shrine you find this figurine. It has pieces of flesh nailed to it most of them are dry and withered, but one piece is still wet from blood.
Thats when you hear something lower down in the cave. A chanting you have heard before on your travels throughout the lands. Something or someone is being sacrificed...

It is called a n'kondi. If you wanna read some about it here is a link

I'm all for this. No doubt someone is going to get their pc a closeup look at this object and give a shudder.

My imagination's been wandering with this idol for a bit, actually. I can see it would be an esoteric idol amongst some circles of necromancers, a tool of worship to the wormgod. With every practise and ritual, a strip of the cadaver's flesh is nailed to this idol. Several years in necromancy can add up to a lot of dried flesh.

Give thanks to the king of rot, and make your blessed mark!

A fetish with protective properties, the black&white image of which could be somewhat disturbing for little kids! Call me crazy, but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the pics was "the 6th house statuettes from Morrowind". Same style, same roles.

I love those round houses they're pretty awesome, I think they'd make good buildings for villages.

I dunno if Rihad is having a lower class set any more, I think the area was deemed too wealthy for one.
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

Maybe that lower class architecture could be used for those little settlements in the wilderness. Such as Lainlyn, Chasetown, Dragon Grove, Sunkeep and Shadymarch.

I am discussing the existance of LC in Rihad right now on IRC and how it is that they dont have any LC.
Since I dont really have the backstory for Rihad, I only can say what I think.

Cities, especially a wealthy city like Rihad attract poor people. Beggars, pickpockets etc. Thats a fact.

Now since I dont know the background to why there is no lower class in Rihad. Here is some input.

*Rihad uses a sort of greencard system, to get a greencard you have to have a job, a clean criminal record etc. Without a greencard you are not allowed to live in Rihad, except for taverns. But since poor people can't afford that it solves it self.

*There is houses and tents outside the city gates for LC people. A better Waterfront.

*or... the lowlife of Rihad live in the sewers, and have their own small village down there. With workshops, small shacks and so on.

Dont go flaming mad about this, its just my opinion that there should be a lower class of some sort in Rihad. You only need to say no, and please give me a good reason why.

first of all, I think that those are great ideas. I preffer the tavern one myself. I think it will give the city a great feel. It's like the city of opportunity- people are on long waiting lists trying to get in.

Second, I love these lower class houses. If they arent used in Rihad they should still be used somwhere. If they arent, I'm going to throw a temper tanrtrum.
