I also like the idea. I think it will add a lot of character. We can make one model and rig it up so that it's posable any way we'd like. Once the initial work is done, any modifications that come later are a breeze.

Awesome to hear that it's easy, then! I'm sure they'll be fun to make too.

Random ideas:
  • -Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil (maybe outside the gates to the temple in Hegathe)
-If there's a city with like a higher level and a lower level, have some trying to climb up by standing on eachother's heads
-If any of the cities have water inside, one dipping it's feet into the water

I don't think I understand this idea. Are you proposing to decorate every city in Hammerfell with garden gnomes? You have my blessing, for what it's worth.

Sparsely, yes.

EDIT: Sloadstorm! There are some in every temple, praising the gods, like on their knees, but rather than keeping their head down, they have it up with their arms spread embracing the holy light (a good description of how the Yoku feel about religion, I think). What's more, in each temple, they'll be wearing the mask of that god, so in Ruptga's the'll have Ruptga's big mask, and in Tava's they'll have Tava's mask and the wings.

Success! My scanner has been cleaned and works fine now (I'll tell you why later). A few images I want to get off my chest for you'se:

I was practicing a different style in some aspects, but relief-work is all the same. Just a wandering pilgrim..

A set of business signs I completely forgot about. I'm not sure how old they are, but anyways..

Snake-men! Most unfortunate, in an untimely accident I spilt a drink on the table over the scanner and a few awaiting concepts, including a WSG image. These two out of ten were the only ones I could save via photoshop and vigorous drying.

Finally, a bamboo hat. Doesn't necessarily have to be bamboo, doesn't necessarily have to be from the tropic regions. displays the visor-like holes, to give a User/NPC that "mysterious stranger" look

One thing I noticed in Daggerfall's portion of Hammerfell was a system of signs painted onto doors, rather than hanging signs, however. Then again, interpreting Daggerfall is like translating mayan ruins to predict the future. There's just a point where you overlook those things.

I made a modell of one of your concepts but the edge of the knife became more edged than I expected it to be. Creds to you anyway.

double post.. I've been putting these designs off for a while now, but I'm confident in their appearance now.

This is something I meant by putting off. I wanted to draw this, as LadyN suggested, but I needed to wait until I got back into inspiration to pull this one of her drawing's off

Remember that idea I had about a ceramic china armour? I'm telling you this is going to be in the game.

In case you don't recall, I'll detail the concept:
Redguard smiths are well adept at forging alloys and metals through heated clays. This process makes much of their swords, which makes both a flexable and sturdy blade. The ceramic armor, however, is something of an entirely different process from conventional metal. A guarded list of ground ingredients (very much similar to the items that make fine china, hence the name), which are often easier to aquire than mountain ores, make this armour. Many repeated steps of heating and additional ingredients are made included over time during forging, until the end result is a glass-like, opaque white plate armour. This forging is very special, as it cannot be shaped after cooling. Many remark on it's ornate painted glaze, and it's similarity to glass armour, but it is certainly heavier than light glass. To free movement, chain mail is equipped under the shirt, rather than greaves and rerebraces

rudementary example of the painted glaze atop the ceramic plate. I'm terrible at fancy design-work, but this took me 20 seconds to photoshop. I'm sure it'd have something more creative than these little bands

Beautiful china armour. This would have been PERFECT as something in Morrowind, but there are fair similarities between the two stylistically, so I think it suits Hammerfell just as well. I love the intricacy and detail. Is there any Redguard name this would have, or would it simply be Ceramic? I hope a modeller can do it justice in the near future.

Ceramic is a working title, but could alternatively be a breton/imperial moniker for it. If I were to pull a yoku name from my ass, perhaps.. Vrae'hniil(vray-neel)? Vfid'Nwo(fid-noowo)? Khri'yuc(kree-yook)? Anything that sounds cool and literally translated to steel-clay, I suppose.

The whole motivation behind this piece is a unique material to give the Redguards something of a proud icon of war-engineering

None of those match really with the talk from Redguard. The pronouncation isn't that unlike it, but the spelling seems almost Dwemeri.

We could make something up. Maybe Alik means sand, so it would be related to the word for clay, which could be Alang, and 'r means great, so it wouldn't apply, but clothing or armor could be anything we want, say obai, so it would be Alangobai (Al-ayng-oh-bye) Armor. But that's complete BS and doesn't really sound that good.

You're right, they sound too phoneticly close to "kagrenak" and "volenfel" (dwemeri phonics have much too many crackly caucophonic noises).

And I like that use of the Alik' noise of the phrase. At this point, however, ceramic armour'll do nicely for reference in the meantime.

[edit] although it's a minor piece of information attached to the suit, the very idea that early Redguards could (and still do today) make materials for war out of the very land itself (without aid of metals and ores) only adds to how awesome they are

Yoku is clearly very like sub-Saharan languages. Lot's of "ongos" and such, as well as some clickery with words like Alik'r.

Are you going to draw the rest of it?

Long, curved spine, immense pelvis structure, and a concept of a very tragic race of cyclops. I can imagine a lot of pain for this primitive species

Looks excellent Lutemoth, I ahve always admired the flowing feel your chracters have. And I love it that your anatomy skills have started to show.

But yes, they do live a lonley life, however primitive, i imagined them being quite wary and cautious, rather than tragic, cus they always have their music. And I like the more furry attire you gave him.

I might resketch it, or soemthing, so i can add teh details I only thoghut of later, and draw a nice pose, and some proper anatomy.

Also, i'd love to know how you get such clean drawings? Do you clear it up on photoshop? It always seems such a waste of time to me. But if that how you do it, and it can turn out taht crisp, I may start. Or do you just draw neat?

EDIT: it looks like i shoudlre ally start sharpening my pencil and investing in soem decent art supplies, and NOT losing them.

Well, it's MUCh easier to colour in, I think with a hard and well sharpened pencil, I coudl draw nicer, I think I am using an HB, that does need a sharpen, I just crank up the contrast on Micorosft Pictire Offiec..

also, I think it would be in turn of my scanner, which does have a bright field of selection... I dunno, blame Dell

as for anatomy, I think it has a lot to do with that visit to Body worlds I had. More artistic than scientific, I say
