New Computer

Post by Balthazar »

What kind of computer specs would I be looking at for just under £1000, not including a hard drive?

Probably about a 3-4ghz dual core processor, some epic ddr2 2-3gb of ram. 512mb video card. 1000 pounds is like 1500 bucks right? anyways, if it's a desktop, you should build it yourself, costs less and turns out better.

Good computer specs. $1472.80 is how much you have in American money; go visit www.newegg.com and check out the kind of stuff you can get with that amount.

£1000 is actually $1945.83.

You can get a Gamer Infinity 900 from http://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Gamer_Infinity_900
Which includes:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz 4MB L2 Cache Processor
• Windows Vista Home Premium
• Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLI Chipset Mboard
• 4GB PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory
• 400GB 7200RPM SATA-II 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
• Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB 16X Video
• Sony 18X DVD+- Rewritable Drive & 16X DVD-ROM
• AC97 3D 7.1 Sound
• FREE! 12-in-1 Flash Media Reader/Writer
• Logitech Keyboard & Optical Mouse
• NZXT Lexa BlackLine Tower Case w/ "See-Thru" Window

and can be customised however you like.

Or you can get a 20" 2.4ghz iMac from http://www.apple.com/uk/thestore

If you want to build yourself then get:
a socket lga 755 intel motherboard
a core 2 duo processor
2 or 4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia video card (most likely a 8800GT or 8800GTS, unless you want to spring for a 8800GTX).
DVD rewriter
Keyboard and mouse (optional if you already have one)
ATX case (and power supply if the case doesn't come with one)

You can get parts from www.ebuyer.com www.dabs.com or numerous other sites, check price runner and http://www.google/products

I was wondering were you got $1472.80 from, hehe. Thanks for the advice, I've ordered a Gamer Infinity 900 :D. I'm selling my current comp on Monday, so I probably wont be online till the new one arrives.

Very nice choice :)

The processor will blow your mind, and the dual video cards will allow you to even play Crysis on almost full detail :D
