Thanks Smile

I did post an argonian hist armor concept in my showcase I thinks. Don't like it much so here's a sketch of the revised version.

ok, freakin' great!

The hound looks like something I really like to see in-game. Though it looks rather unatural that the hindleg is inside the front one at the coloured pic...mistake or crazy anatomy?

I can't get your quagmire color scheme picture to load. The link says Access Forbidden. Does it work for anyone else?

From what you describe, your take on Quagmire is similar to ours. It's not a place filled with disgusting horror (gore, undead, ect). Tension and unease are created through other means. The rock carvings, for example, are meant to be unsettling, but not horrifying. I'm glad that you agree with this simple, yet extremely important detail. It will take far more creativity on our part, but we can do it.

Yah, I think it's supposed to be disproportionate. The muscles on it, look a bit skewey... like the beast often twists it's arms. But I actually like that.

I don't think it would be totally suited for Hammerfall, as it looks like he has sunburn, or if not, then fine skin WILL burn. I can see him wallowing with the sakatal worshippers outside Rihad. He might even snack on one or two of them.

But He will need to be coated in grey mud.

EDIT: I dig the starface so much! I just can't see the fur beign so appropriate, but it all depends on placement.

But what does it used to echo? High pitched sounds or just it's footsteps.

I really really love that thing. And I love the hind legs paws. Nice stuff.

rofl for quagmire Smile

High pitch sounds or clicking its mandibles like dolphins click.

Anatomically its shoulders should be a bit wider than its hips. Its forearms are made more for wrestling with prey than chasing it.

The starface bear/anteater? would be for more mountainous regions of such regions will exist. If not fur color can be changed and placed in the planes or meadows.

I think white colours would be perfect for not absorbing heat, it's just whetrher hair is suitable. But I wouldn't want it to lose that hair.

I think it would be suited for the 'colder' more mountainous regions near or east of the Dragontail Mountains.

Although i do use the word colder with those apostophes for a reason.

I like it a lot.

But I think despite it beign a nightmare relam the yellows could be FAR more vivid. Not necessarily fluorescent, but very bright.

And the level of detail in the drawing is nice, but in terms of detail of design it seems to be a humanoid with a skirt on.

Above that though, and they aren't even criticism, they are suggestions you can obviosuly paint dififtally very well as well as draw. So great job and these and keep it up, I'd lvoe to see whatever you can give.

P.S rolf for quagmire is a bit confusing, that's why I still assumed it was Hammerfall creature.

And for Quagmire it could do with beign less cute, althoguh cute subversions is something we haven't done yet.

Rofl thanks. And thanks for all the crit and opinions. Its great help to me.

I definately want to try different colors for the daedra, I did originally try blue like the Gifters but it just looked off. Tattooing or markings are something I'm also going to play with but I need to feel out what markings those might be.Clothing markings too.

The bone armor I think would be similar to bone mold. The underarmor is going to be leather. Human leather possibly? Shock value lol.

Shock value number 2. What if Her human subjects were all cannibalistic?

Be back to type more, typing this in the intermission of an interclan match.

Ok there we go.

As for the cute stuff, my intention for it was that it be an: "Oh how cute, ow I'm dead" sort of creature. You know how poison dart frogs are? Or a lion fish. I was thinking of just a few, a false hope sort of deal. "oh yay finally something that won't kill me. WRONG" Mess with people's heads a bit.

I would lveo to see what tatoos and markigns you do coem up with, becuase thus far we've never had an intricate detailign of Quamire deisgns(it doesn't ahve to be intricate by the way) but I will let you coem up with ideas for that.

I just think the character needs to be a tiny bit more embellished and it sounds like you were doing that. Lookign forward to seeign what you create.

Edited above post for more stuff.

The kick off I have for designs atm are Lutemoth's Eye gates, the eyes on the gifters garb and the the dreamcatchers(?) ornaments shaped like fanged mouths. Not a bad start at all. Going to expand off those. Also something strikes me that centipedes would make a cool design here.

Will be back momentarily with the blocked in Gifter armor and some exterior clutter.

This totally has me excited for interiors too. Flowing lava shapes and maybe something like the carbonite thing they had going in Starwars where Jaba had solo trapped. Only more vague than that. Forms with less detail. Similar to the tortured soul rocks someone else came up with in the Quag forum.

Human subjects? Quagmire is gonna be Deadland-bis, not Shivering Isles 2. No human subjects are planned. Only Vaerniman daedra (our TR exclusives like the Gifter), plus a sprinkling of the usual suspect daedra (hungers and spider daedra would fit there well for example).

Ok, so it is nightmarish. Do you know how she might expand that nightmare to others? Is there something that might draw would be adventurers here? Or is the player going to be a "VIP" in this realm?

As this old thread says, Quagmire as we'll visit it will be nearly exactly like the Deadland. There will be things that will play the role of gates and the player character will enter them to find the Sigil Stone and close it. (The quagmire Sigil Stones may not look like those from Oblivion but they'll fill the same role.)

The idea is that Quagmire itself will show itself as a tiny exterior, with something like a hill you've got to climb or something like that. But as you ascend it, you get whisked away to different nightmares -- scripted interiors with very varied ambiances and traps -- and you'll have to get out of these nightmares to get back to the real Quagmire and grab the stone and leave.

Adventurers may be drawn there, but only to their peril.

Our assumption is that only the Champion of Cyrodiil is involved in this. And he has obvious had experience closing portals to the Realm of Oblivion before.

Also think Daedra aren't creatures as you have displayed them, which is why the creatures were confusing to me. Daedra are very intelligent, and you'd assume their being (by being i mean lifestyle and appearance) indicates that.

BUT, we certainly don't know what coudl be present in the realm, I think it's safe to say it's full of illusions more than anything, becuase the beings you may see in the nightmare realm couldn't exist there without perishing.

So go crazy! You are makign me feel guilty by doing so much art, I may have to actually do soemthing.... Razz

Lol. I can always change it. I'm currently just basing it off of Lutemoth's designs. I think I've got the feel tho.

Aren't scamps considered daedra? If so I think you meant dremora being the intelligent ones? As a counter to that dolphins are very smart and don't wear clothes. Technically the game treats scamps and such as creatures. Lore wise I'm sure they have their own culture and beliefs as the dremora do although they aren't represented as having such. Idk. Just rambling now lol.

It sounds to me that maybe shape shifting creatures and creatures /npc's with invisibility ability might be ideal.

Over all it sounds like expanding on the Gifters as Quagmires dremora is a go. And making species that have their own cultural style is a go to.

Also from what the two of you have said about teleporting.. my interpretation is that the player is going to be able to be transported to a different exterior cell with possibly a different environment as well as interior cells to act as nightmares. This greatly reminds me of FEAR lol. Not that I'm saying boo, idea stealer. I really like it because of the variety it will give this place. We can have dark forests and stormy meadows and fog chilled marshes and mountains with rock slides. Maybe not all in the same exact gate but a few in each. As well as the really strange interior cells of course. I mean exteriors in combination with interiors. I'm also guessing most of the teleporters will be non player activated ones that teleport as soon as you step over a specific area?

I think I also caught something in the forums about being teleported to a version of previous events? Like if you'd already beaten the main quest you might see a not so happy replay of the siege machine taking Bruma.

Yes, it's a good idea I think too. And I was also thinkign shapeshifters, I don't know how much of a bending of lore that is. I am however sure that the violence is physical but that the nightmares are an illusion of a sort.

Dremora are a type of daedra, but yes, most daedra are humanoids with some sense of being, maybe more clever than dolphins. Certainly some daedra are far more clever than men. If only due to the time they ahve spent being in existance, so their knowledge.

Oh certainly. I wasn't meaning they were stupid like a dog or anything. Or a rat for that matter. Some being creatures and some being so beyond our thought processes we cannot understand them. The only thing keeping dolphins back though is the lack of fingers. hehe.

I think this is a yes that I should create a few with a much more expanded culture that the player will encounter? Not just the Gifters but others too?

I'll have to put a lot of thought into the shifters but I'll get right on it with the daedra as well as what is on the other side of the gates. Smile

Game-wise, dremora, golden saints and dark seducers are treated as NPCs rather than creatures simply because it was the only way to have them talk. Golden saints and dremora were creatures in Morrowind.

In Spirit of the Daedra, written by a Dremora, you have this passage:
Quote:
The Scamps have small thoughts, and cannot fear greatly.

The Vermai have no thoughts, and cannot fear.

The Dremora have deep thoughts, and must master fear to overcome it.

(Vermai are Daedra that have not been seen officially since Battlespire.)
It does say that Scamps are dumb. But yeah, it's written by a Dremora, who tend to think everything else is dumb anyway.

This is virgin territory. Presumably, the Gifters have some sort of Faustian devil attitude, since they're called gifters. As for the rest -- imagine what you want. Maybe make a new thread in Lore & Quest discussion about the nightmare daedra worldview, their relationships between each others, what castes there are, their attitude towards mortals and towards daedra unaffiliated to Vaernima...

They creap everyone else out. Other than that I don't really see much interaction. I'd imagine that they'd stay in their realms and frighten people. (In other words, I think that they're Xenophobes).

As for how they interact with each other, I'd say that they are all a bit like actors. When anyone is looking their sole purpose is to frighten them, and they will interact in whatever way is necessary to do so. When they're off stage... well, you're not supposed to know how they interact. One of life's great mysteries. Wink

Edit: I could have said that a lot more simply: I think that Gifters behave in the same way as Dremoras do. They hunt Humans in different ways and to different ends (killing and frightening) and probably have the same cool relationship to other Daedra. (Though the Gifters would probably not give of airs like Dremora tend to do). In the end, though, it's on a Daedra to Daedra basis, and scamps, for example, talk a lot to any listener and often don't even attack. (Techically. In Oblivion they are, of course, mindless).

Is Quagmire not constantly changing, then would it be quite hard to concept what it ACTUALLY looks like? In any case, would I be correct in assume it contains both dreams AND nightmares, so it'd be a chaotic realm of peaceful dreams and horrifying nightmares?

Its great to see some quagmire outdoor clutter. Having concepts speeds up the process a lot. One mesh i've been thinking about is an alter of sorts.. basically a large slab with the 'tortured soul' carvings forming the base. If you feel up to it, thats another area to explore.. shines and worship.

The centipede shackle/bracer is really cool. It wouldn't be hard to model either.
