Map 2 - Internal Testing

Post by Haplo »

Antediluvian Secrets has entered into its internal testing stage! This is the last stage before an initial release to the public, so it's just a small amount of time before that next part of Tamriel Rebuilt is in the players' hands!

Basically, bnelo12, internal testing, is what many company's call beta.

We have the files tested, by the internal users here at TR ((those who contribute to the project)) and make sure that everything works okay, no items are bleeding, no general dialogue errors and things like that.

In the long run, it's designed to help the end user, yourself, get a much better experience out of the public release.

its essentially a finished beta merge (same thing the public sees upon release). we play through it, fix any errors we find, and just polish it in general. its to help us avoid making any glaring mistakes.

They're just giving it one last look to catch any obvious errors themselves, before they turn it loose to let me (and a few other "picky" individuals) find them.....

To give a conservative estimate, it could be any time from two weeks to three months from release.

How's that for ya? :P

Isn't a newer version of Map 1 also planned? I heard about it changing a few of the town names and things like that.

Also is Map 2 planned to be released complete? I think I heard that Map 1 was initially released without all the quests and content it has today.

Yep, a new version of Map 1 will at some point be released, with more quests, and all the bugs and issues in the current version fixed up.

Who can say when that will actually be out by, and it certainly won't be soon.

Map 2's initial release will work like Map 1's. It will be the 'finished' product, so totally playable and enjoyable, but won't include any quests, which will be added at a later release. Otherwise, though, it will have everything one would expect. Nothing will be 'ommitted' from the release (other than quests).

this is exactly why we don't like due dates, we don't like hinting at them, and we don't like even thinking about them. This job is nearly impossible to figure a time frame for, and I don't know why we said anything publicly in the first place.

Ya, I think you should release them all together without telling a living soul... Would be much more exciting.
And I really hate the questlessness of these "final" releases. Makes my poor punky heart break.

Uh? Only the first betas are questless. Second betas are quested. Final releases are quested and mainquested.

:o

Don't say the MQ word, Gez! Sload will kill you! :o

Final releases are simply 'more quested'. ;) ('Cos anyway, Map 1's final will include more new quests than just the 'MQ' (which in any case is just the Telvanni Master quests, with coolio alternative route for non-Telvanni) - IC, MBC, IL?, some more miscs etc.)

But yeah, Jule, no one's calling this a "final" release. The word Beta implies in-finality. Any release we call "final" will of course be fully quested.

So, what you're actually saying is that the glass is half full?

But yes, I was only refering to the main quests (or the lack of these quests). Just don't like fooling around a lot and not getting any work done.

Anyways, great job people, keep up the good work.

Well, for what it may or may not be worth, you will of course be able to explore the towns and get to know key characters, perhaps get an idea of where things are going to be moving in plotlines etc.

There's also Kemel-Ze to explore, and there are some 'freeform quest' exploration parts of those ruins that can be done now, and will be required to be done for certain quests when they come out. So you could do a bit of 'prep' by trying to work out what those things are. ;) Nothing too exciting, but there is dialogue etc.

Alright, this sounds exciting! Don't screw it up, or I'ma come getcha! (Translation: Take your time, I'm sure we would all rather wait, as is TR tradition, than immediately have to download an updated 100+mb file the next day. Not that you need me to tell you this).

Can we get an update on anything related to maps 3-6? Or are all the Heads too focused on map 2 right now to say anything interesting about them?

Map 3 Detailing is about to open. Map 4 is still largely in the exterior/interior phase. Maps 5 and 6 are currently closed so that modders can prioritize better for Maps 1-4.
