Real Life Tamriel Names...

Okay, well, My University, being in Melbourne (AUS), Its very multicultural. And to my discovering I just found out today there is a guy at my University named 'Zainab'.

Honest to God.

I had to laugh (in my head) when I found this out...

Well Ive actaully never heard it. Its just a suprise to hear a name from Elder Scrolls in real life. but I guess they had to orignate from somewhere

It might very well be a coincidence. There's a very high chance for any short, logical combination of vowels and consonants to be an actual word in some language.

For example, the word 'Myzel'. I made it up, as a combination of my initials and corruption of a part of my last name. It also turned out to be a German word.

I noticed that a couple dungeons in MW are named after Pokemon - like Marowak's Spine and Kakuna Burial. Ashurbanipal is a Daedric ruin and also the name of an Assyrian king. In fact, Ashlander language and Daedric ruin names seem to draw similarities to Assyrian names.

Hehe, I used to play pokemon alot, I remember noticing that just before I looted all those areas

Interesting about the Assyrian Language though.

I guess I had an experience kinda like this. I always name my characters in games Haakon, and it was kinda funny when I found Haakon's Lucky Break in the bottom of a lake in Solstheim. I guess it's not too surprising... after all, Haakon is a real name.

my online nic "John Drake" (and the crudely latinised version i use here) is actualy the name of a well known author (apparently, i hadn't actualy heard of him myself).

That and 'DRAKE' is the name of a local employment agency

If you notice the headpieces that all Dagoths except for Ur himself, they, and the ghost Dwemer, resemble Babylonian crowns......and the thin lithe design of Dunmer and the Dagoths are seen in Indian art.

I'm sure it's a coincidence though as people above me said. Another example of such coincincidence: My name means sneaky or crafty in arabic- but I just made it up.

It was a she in the end actaully, and yeah go figure she's a muslim, and a zealous one and all >_> ....@_@

If you mean "MeiÃƒÅ¸el", a worker's tool, you should state that the german word is written completely different and spoken a bit differently (I am german).

The English word is mycelium. It's not a common term, I'll give you that.

Edit: well, in the Wiki you mentioned it derives from latin and thus, to be "overly correct", it is not german, like the english "mycellum" isn't english, but also latin. So your handle is completely latin

Don't forget that Sargon was an Assyrian king too and a cave in morrowind. Or Sud, which is a cave as well. And Bethesda had the alfabet in mind when they named the sea around Stirk the Abecean Ocean. Do I need to mention the name Elsweyr?
