The Beyond Skyrim project collaboration

Post by Deeza »

Hello everyone. You probably don't remember, but a few years back when I was just starting out in modding I was a member here and wrote a few books for your TES4 Hammerfell project.

I am currently one of the Admins at the forums of a collaborative family of modding project for TES5, which ultimately aims to recreate parts of the other Provinces bordering Skyrim. At the moment we have teams working on parts of High Rock, Cyrodiil and Morrowind, and we are also affiliated with an Elsweyr modding team.

As part of this process I have been trying to collect together high quality fan-made literature and concept art concerning these other provinces. To this end, I would like to ask:

(1) Would TR be interested in granting us permission to use some of the relevant lore books which you included as part of your releases for TES3 (namely the ones which would still be relevant 200 years later)?

(2) Would TR have any objection to our projects making use of the concept art which was drawn for your Morrowind projects? Obviously we will be re-imagining Morrowind to take into account the events of the last 200 years, but these could still be very useful for us in helping to decide the "flavour" of each area.

(3) Would TR have any objection to our project using your TES3 releases as "3D concept art" as part of the creative process in areas such as Necrom and Telvannis?

I would be very grateful for any assistance which you could offer me on these matters.

Kind Regards,

Deeza

I can't speak to 2 or 3, but I can say that I can see no harm in allowing use of our relevant books. Just include the project in your readme or what have you.

I see no problems with any of these proposals, but Haplo and TF need to give their input as well.

Nice to see you again, Deeza. All of these requests are okay, as long as you credit TR in your readme or however you credit your works, as Nanu already mentioned.

I'd like to add that if you use concept art it's also proper to credit the artist. I'm talking about the drawings, not the modded stuff.

Thank you very much, all of you.

Any art or books which we end up using would of course be fully credited in the appropriate ReadMe (both to the artist and to the project as a whole).

One more thing that occurs to me is that whilst we do not currently have any affiliates working on the border regions of Hammerfell, it is a distinct possibility that such a group may join us in the future.

If this happens, would it be OK to apply the same conditions to use of any of the illustrations you released in your Art of Hammerfell book?

Kind Regards,

By way of a little update for you all, here is our first trailer, from our Cyrodiil team:

(And yes, just in case you were wondering, all of those models you're seeing are recreations that were made in-house by our team. The trailer music was written by one of our composers.)

Is there anywhere I could listen to the new soundtrack?
Who also composed it?

Here's the composer's Soundcloud page:

He's composed not only for Cyrodiil but for our version of Hammerfell, as well as a few other tracks for our other projects.
