[Quest Idea] - History of Ebonheart

Post by Terrifying Daedric Foe »

When I was making this interior I wrote one and a half books about the history of Ebonheart. I think this could be used as a quest to help explain to the player why OE is an Imperial city and not an Indoril one.

Basically, the author would send you off to various places to gather information. These would include Imperial records kept in the OE castle, and old Dunmer who used to live in Ebonheart and still remember what it was like. Maybe a Bosmer who served in the legions at that time?

Anyway, this should help explain the history of Ebonheart to the player - although there should be no definitive answer to the question of who burnt the city to the ground.

Rather than not giving any definitive answers, how about having this quest offered by two different questgivers - your Imperial in OE and a Temple or Indoril historian elsewhere. Same quest, same material, different conclusions?

Besides, what actually happened to Ebonheart, anyway? I know that we've mostly discarded the idea of doing big things with house Ra'athim (or R'Aathim or Ra'Athim or Raathim or whatever we're calling them) but it's pretty established that they held big sway in Ebonheart at the time, and they produced an Empress in 3E153 in Katariah I, and that Barenziah and Helseth are of that clan, in a way. I suppose that's something that could be used, Raathim betraying the other noble families and selling out to the Imperials?
