No. But I'd be more inclined to give it a stereotypical shack town name like Gnaar Mok, Seyda Neen, or Hla Oad.

Like Thira Don, Aleen, Gol Mok, or Hla Doro.

I like all of those, most of all Gol Mok and Hla Doro.

Hla Doro gets my vote.

I don't like Hla Doro, but Gol Mok is nice, imo.

Gol Mok rolls nicely off the tongue. Hla Doro sounds a bit too... Spanish to me.

No interest in the newly fabricated names, Thira Don or Aleen? Very Happy

Neither of them sound particularly Dunmer to me.

I'm not defending either of those names, but where do you see anything like Gnaar, Mok, Seyda, or Neen used elsewhere in Dunmer words and names? Does "Mok" sound particularly "Dunmer"? "Thira" sounds more "Dunmer" to me than that.

edit: Sorry, apparently I'm just feeling argumentative today. But seriously, answer the question! >:|

Gol Mok gets my vote.

Also if it's any consolation I did put your suggestions in my name bank, where I keep all decent names for later suggestion/use.

Thira sounds more along the lines of a typical fantasy name to me. Also, if you replace the "i" with an "e", it becomes the name of a famous island from ancient Greek history. When I see Aleen, I can't help thinking of the Scottish boys name Allen, and Don stands out as an honorific used in Spain and Italy.

Lol, no consolation is needed. It's just always interested/irked me how different the Dunmer village names are from other Dunmeri names and words; well only Mok, Seyda, and Neen. The Dunmer language is an obession of mine (from time to time... can an obsession be inconstant? Razz).

Glad you like Gol Mok. Wink

And neen is Dutch. Razz And don't check urban dictionary for what mok is slang for!

Though you're right that Thira makes me think of Spira which makes me think of my second favorite game... but word association is an endless plague if you let it be.

So is everyone keen on Gol Mok?

I agree. I only brought up the above points because I found the associations particularly distracting.

I'm fine with Gol Mok. I am more worried about whether the shack village will be kept or not, though.

I don't think there is any current plans to axe the village. It briefly was discussed in the context of the delta, but you made the delta and the village was kept. Not seeing a point in changing that now...

I didn't touch the village because I didn't know what was going to happen with it. Razz There is some discussion on the village in this thread. I had actually meant to make a thread about the fate of the village, but never got around to it, especially with all the other things currently being discussed about the section.

I'm in favor of keeping Gol Mok as an impoverished shack village similar to to Gnaar Mok and Hla Oad, except not in the swamp. Perhaps it's origin could lie in peasant farmers being pushed off their lands on the west bank of the Thirr by expanding Hlaalu plantations. Now they're mostly fishermen. Add in a little Camonna Tong presence (perhaps a hideout for the group's losers who are too lame for Andothren), along with a little smuggling traffic between the Inner Sea and Thirr River Valley, and I think we have a good concept for the place.
