question about a showcase

Post by Cicero »

Just a quick question. I was wondering if it is possible to use an exterior as a showcase. I really enjoy making landscapes and would like to show what I can do on here. Here are some screenshots of some landscaping I have done from a few different games.

Far Cry 3: WIP multilayer map

Oblivion: Dungeons from my mod

My favourite thing to do in modding is exteriors (I can find a way to make interiors look interesting too) and I pay close attention to detail and bleeding and caspering objects, I am never satisfied until those three areas have been met. I have experience with many game engines in the form of play spaces and it has been a hobby of mine for about 13 years. let me know if I can create an exterior showcase to show of and I will happily get to work on that :).

Thank you all.

i know your Oblivion mod! It is veeeeery detailed, and it was kind of a hidden gem until recently! You have an awesome eye for detail, and I'm glad you're interested in the project! Your talent will be put to amazing use here, thats for sure!

Hi, cicero! You certainly can make an exterior showcase.

Check out the instructions right here. Happy showcasing! :)

Sorry to dig up an old thread again. I was going to release a showcase last year but cannot find where it is on my computer after time got away on me. So... I was wondering about something. I was hoping to create a dungeon showcase for TR and my intension is to make a dungeon that can be implemented somewhere in the game right away (after some has reviewed it first that is), and have that as my showcase. Can this be done or do I have to follow the traditional showcase steps? thanks.

It can be done, yes. There are a number of showcase interiors we want to incorporate into the mod, but we have yet to properly set up the infrastructure for it. Cave interiors are rather easy to include, and the dungeons aren't so tightly packed in the areas we're working on that one or two more would do any harm. I'll make sure to try and provide prompt feedback on your files to make sure your interior will fit the region.

Edit: not so sure about including the interior directly in TR_Mainland, if that's what you meant, but I personally wouldn't have any problem with that either.

Please try to keep it small, at least for the showcase. Once you've passed the showcase review, I have no problem with you making it larger (if so desired) for inclusion in-game.
