Middle Class and Upper Class Imperial Clothing

During my preliminary work adding NPCs to Old Ebonheart, it has quickly become apparent that we do not have a wide variety of clothing for well-to-do foreigners to wear in Morrowind. Much of Bethesda's clothing looks tailored for either peasants (both Dunmer or Outlander) or upper class Dunmer. The expensive shirts in particular stick out strongly for their meager variety.

We need clothing fitting for a urbanized Imperial city, namely shirts and pants that outlander merchants and bureaucrats can wear.

We might want to draw inspiration from Project Cyrodiil for designs. Unfortunately, we cannot directly use their stuff -their modelers made it with Better Bodies in mind.

Excellent. Check out the Romans for inspiration but not too much because that's obvious. Look to European national dress- Sami, Russians, Georgians etc. Will look for some pictures when I have time.

A lot of clothing in Oblivion is pretty damn ugly, but there are a few decent outfits that can serve as inspiration.

This seems so non-priority.
my opinion.

Odd that you believe that. Old Ebonheart is currently under the beginning of its NPCing stage, so this new clothing is actually quite high-priority.

One could argue this should have been discussed several years ago when interiors were first made so new items could be placed. Adding items that have already been created would be nice if they are decent quality. Creating new ones seems like a waste unless someone really wants to do it.

Making more clothing variety wont do a whole lot to improve the mod where they are not needed. I'm sure some of the people here have seen gameplay from the Witcher 3 which will be released early next year. We should ask ourselves what TR will offer that such a game will not. And in another 10 years, what how advanced will environments and NPCs become? How much will we or those still interested in playing TR do so for clothing variety or graphics/ environment quality and will they be overly concerned with accurately rotated objects. For instance, are people still interested in playing Daggerfall concerned that many NPCs wear identical clothing?, no.

We should focus more on the unique content that matter. Improving story and feature rich content over needless graphics quality. I think we should be content with repeat clothing etc in the interest of focusing on expanding play area and enriching existing content in a meaningful way that will be appreciable years from now.
my opinion.

Are you ever not being negative and suggesting we either drop something or revisit it in the infinite future?

I agree that it's not an urgent priority, but I think more Imperial clothing is generally a good idea. In an ideal world i'd have culture-specific clothing varieties for all of the races.

What sasquatch doesn't seem to understand is that work on one area doesn't necessarily delay work on another, because people have different skillsets to bring to bear. This won't hold up NPCing or OE castle planning, which are the current priorities for the city.

Some of Ashstaar's Imperial clothing that we should keep in mind, especially the shirts on the right side. :)

I think we should ask Worsas if we can use the upper class Imperial shirts he made for Province Cyrodiil. He said they work with both vanilla bodies and Better Bodies.

He's made a ton of great clothing for Colovian Imperials, but upper class shirts are what we desperately need the most for Old Ebonheart at the moment, and I think Province Cyrodiil deserves to keep most of its clothing unique to its lands.

Reuse items from other mods where possible. There are so many clothing mods any modeling effort would be best spent elsewhere. Using P:C clothing, great idea. I'd also like to see some other resources merged. Barrow tileset from SHoTN for example. Worsas already kindly gave permission for open use of his resources here in another thread but we should be respectful in their use by using them only as intended.
my opinion.

Here's something I'm working on. Very much WIP, but comments are welcome.

Those clothes look great. Bonus points for the Colovian hat; I'll have to get me one of those...
